LD 30 Race Narrows As Rich and Addonizio Withdraw
Monmouth County Freeholder Gary Rich and Wall Township Board of Education member Ralph Addonizio will not be on the ballot on Monday night when the GOP County Committee select a candidate to fill Dave Rible’s seat in the General Assembly.
In an email to Wall Township County Committee members, Addionizo wrote, “I just wanted everyone to know that I had a meeting with Shaun Golden this afternoon at my request. It was a very positive meeting. I informed him that I would be withdrawing my name for consideration for the Assembly seat.
“After spending the last 2 days thinking about it and then seeing this morning the endorsement from Assemblyman Sean Kean for Ned, I felt it was the best thing to do for our party. ”
Addonizio told MMM in a phone interview,”It is important to keep Monmouth County’s representation in the Assembly. Monmouth has a deep bench of talented Republicans. We were dividing our support and giving the seat to Ocean County by default. I support Chairman Golden and the Monmouth GOP. I have no regrets.”
“Ralph Addonizio does a great job on the Wall Board of Education and on the Township’s Zoning Board,” Golden said. “He is an excellent public servant with a bright future in our Party.”
Rich told MMM yesterday that he did not file as a candidate due to timing issues regarding personal and family matters.
The race is now between former Wall Mayor Ned Thomson, former Belmar Councilman Jim Bean and Lakewood Municipal Utility Authority Executive Director Justin Flancbaum.
Thomson was endorsed by Assemblyman Sean Kean; Flancbaum was endorsed by Senator Robert Singer and Bean was endorsed by Common Sense for Belmar blogger Dave Schneck.
to Mr. Bean- a highly qualified man of integrity and guts, much needed now, in Trenton, and a positive voice for the future!!
No Howell candidate?? Nicastro? Dibella? Walsh? Seriously? No one??
I think we know who the establishment is behind…
If we get another establishment candidate we will get more of the same. More gas taxes (Thanks Rible, Kean, & Singer), more slow tax increases, more Democrat-lite.
NJ is out of control and these establishment guys want to pick a candidate who will promote their ‘same ol’ same ol’ agenda.
Now their guilting all the candidates except their chosen one out. I live in Monmouth, and I don’t give a crap if our next Assemblyman is from Ocean or Monmouth, as long as he doesn’t give us more of what these guys have done to us.
Of the three you mention, Walsh is probably the most viable candidate.
Nicastro lied by telling his constituent’s he is a retired NYC police officer— he is not!
And DiBella lied when he said his Facebook account got hacked, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office proved it was not. This led to DiBella’s resigning from the board of Brookdale Community College.
need to be more organized and strengthened, and then maybe their ” benches” would be deeper and stronger. When the GOP at all levels finally learns to put individual egos, agendas and ambitions aside, and row in a same direction, with the same principles and platform, perhaps then it will be more effective. (In towns, counties, the state, and the national!) If not, the lib left wins by default, and we continue to deteriorate culturally and economically. One ray of light in that district is, no matter who gets the nod this time, unless the “Murphy Millions” destroy us all the way down-ballot, that district probably wins again, this year…
Nicastro IS a retired NYC police officer. Are you for real? You are going to trash the man? He served with class and integrity. Get real. And Dibella did not lie. The prosecutor said they could not determine that he was or was not hacked. They never said he lied and he resigned long before they issued their report. And that was after the NJEA went after him which was the drama behind his whole issue. And Walsh?? For real? He has run for higher office like 11 times and lost. He is awful. It is that simple. But stop trashing Nicastro and Dibella who would be way better than who is running now.
Bob Walsh….Baaahaaaaaaa! Now that’s a good one. He could not get 1 CC vote from Howell. He’s DONE!
Nicastro IS NOT a retired NYC police officer!! He is out on disability from the NYC Department of Corrections.
Watch the video, it has Nicastro’s financial disclosures. It indicates an income from the NYC Correction Dept. Hence, he was a correction officer NOT a police officer.
An honorable profession, but a different job with a different title.

A cop is a cop. He was in NYC as a cop, period! Bet he carried a gun and had a badge. The haters are pathetic. And he had to retire because he was hurt. How sick you are to distort the truth. And the smear of Dibella is just as bad. Guy has a conservative opinion and the unions and APP go after him. At least the guy has the stones to stand up for his Republican views. This is why all the good people like Nicastro and Dibella must be fed up. Due to the web haters who do nothing but post in the internet.
Howell gets screeed again. 1/3rd of district and no representation. WTF? There is no one? Total crap.
How nice. Presumed republicans attacking Nicastro and Dibella and others. You people are the reason we lose elections.
nailed the point: Howell has always been traditionally rough-and-tumble politics, with both parties often destroying themselves from within, causing the flips of regimes. Seems to be happening again with R’s there. Such a large and important town, which we need to help up- ballot, in county and state- hope they calm down and focus, pretty soon!
