Sheriff Golden Endorsed By Three FOP Organizations
Three Fraternal Order of Police lodges, the New Jersey State FOP and Locals #121, the Monmouth County Superior Law Enforcement Officers and Local #30, the Monmouth County Superior Corrections Officers, announced their endorsements of Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden on Thursday afternoon, November 3.
Golden has been Monmouth County’s Sheriff in 2010 when Governor Chris Christie appointed him to fill the vacancy created by Kim Guadagno becoming Lt. Governor. He was elected to three year terms in November of 2010 and 2013 and is seeking a third term on Election Day, November 8.
“We have all witnessed the unparalleled advances in technology, professionalism, shared services and leadership that you have accomplished to date,” wrote President Vincent Giglio on behalf of the members of Local #121. “Under your visionary leadership the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office will continue to achieve and surpass expectations.”
Shawn Reece, President of Local #30, said, “Public Safety is one of the most important functions of county government. Over the last seven years, Sheriff Golden’s leadership and vision has contributed to Monmouth County being one of the safest places in the United States.
“Sheriff Golden has proven himself to be a uniquely talented leader. During this period of fiscal austerity, he has managed to reduce his department’s budget significantly while at the same time enhancing the working conditions of his employees, introducing new innovative public safety programs and improving the quality of public safety and law enforcement services delivered to county residents.
“Under Sheriff Golden’s leadership, Monmouth County is leading the way in addressing the needs of those with Special Needs, leading the fight against the heroin epidemic, and in keeping civilians safe from the threats of terrorism.
“Monmouth County has the best law enforcement training facilities and technology. Our Sheriff’s Office is the only one in New Jersey to earn a 4 star accreditation.
“The Monmouth County Superior Officers proudly stand with Sheriff Shaun Golden and ask county residents to keep him on the job for three more years.”
State FOP President Robert W. Fox noted that Golden is the chief executive of the 609 member, $67 million agency which consists of three divisions: law enforcement, communications and corrections. Prior to his appointment, Golden served in the role of undersheriff where he ran the Monmouth County Regional 9-1-1 Communications Center and the operations of communications and computer networking equipment for county and municipal agencies. He has been instrumental in promoting and implementing shared services with towns at cost savings measures through the 9-1-1 Communications Center.
Sheriff Golden is a lifelong resident of Monmouth County and brings with him a wealth of experience in law enforcement and public administration, Fox continued. He was a career law enforcement officer for 21 years, starting out as a police officer with the Colts Neck Police Department, before moving on to the Toms River Police Department in that same capacity.
Golden worked as a certified paramedic for MONOC, serving Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He holds a master’s degree in administration from Seton Hall University, is a NJ Certified Public Manager and an adjunct professor at Monmouth University with the Department of Political Science and Public Policy.
