Love for Christie, Right and Left

The Chris Christie for President buzz just won’t go away, no matter how strongly the governor declares he’s not running.  Pretty soon the state police will consider putting Christie on a suicide watch.

Ann Coulter’s comment at CPAC…that the GOP either run Chris Christie or Mitt Romney will be the nominee and lose…has reignited the smoldering Christie for President banter.

In cable TV and radio interviews today,  Coulter has said Christie is the only Republican who can defeat President Obama, and the governor would have her support even though she questions how conservative he is.

From the left, we have Star Ledger columnist Tom Moran, who helped make Christie a national figure with the famous, “You should see me when I’m really pissed” video.  Moran wrote a piece for Sunday’s paper/website which was essentially a white flag of surrender from New Jersey’s Democratic establishment.

After comparing Christie to Oprah, detailing the powerful Democratic support Christie has won over in Hudson and Essex counties, and explaining how hopeless it has become for Trenton Democrats to oppose Christie’s reforms, Moran himself endorsed the Christie agenda:

He’s winning this argument because he’s right on the core issue — New Jersey has promised more than it can deliver. Governors all over the country, in both parties, are moving in the same direction out of necessity.

 

If Christie can win over Moran, maybe Coulter is right.

Perhaps the question should not be, “Is Chris Christie ready to be president?” as he repeatedly protests that he is not.  Perhaps the question should be, “Is Kim Guadagno ready to be governor?”

    Let’s put these foolish rumors to rest, NO and NO!! We already have a “president” who is pro-illegals, pro-cap n tax, pro -mooslem, against drilling,and anti-gun.
    Why replace him with more of the same?

    Brian, suppose all of that is accurate… you would have a president who has actually demonstrated an ability to bring smaller, more cost effective government, less taxes, believes in self-determination, is pro-life, is willing to take on union labor costs, is willing to cut bad/expensive projects from the budget before they turn out to be a bigger loss even if its not popular… and I’m sure the list could go on and on and match 80% of “tea party approved” talking points. Agreed, matching 100% would be ideal (for you, maybe not me and others), but it doesn’t seem realistic in today’s world.

    And I’ll agree – on a few issues, even key issues to me personally, Christie leaves a lot to be desired, but he’s certainly won me over and he seems to be getting the job done in Trenton. And I certainly find I disagree with Christie less than I would disagree with Obama, or most any D for that matter. In one issue that is important to a lot of Republican voters, I think you’ll have an especially hard time selling Christie == same as Obama to the pro-life crowd.

    …and just to humor the crowd… you’d get a President Born in the USA… :/

    With sixteen Presidential wannabes ready to scream that they really want the job, Christie just might be drafted as a last minute quiet compromise.

    It is the NJ way.

    NJ Governors are not supposed to finish their terms (according to judicial law).

    Let’s wait and see if what he is doing in NJ actually works before we promote him.
    I know it all sounds good but lets give it a little time. The guy has only been in office for a year.

    Art – I think Kim G could make a very good Governor; my only concern would be a divisive primary among Republicans.

    and Chris will get better, IF we elect at least one majority-house in Trenton, THIS year..I agree with Coulter that we can’t beat NObama with Romney.. if we haven’t learned by now that there just aren’t enough voters who respect and will vote for old war-horses,and/or “safe” RINO’s, who don’t offer enough contrast to the leftists, we never will!.. as with county freeholder here, the Romney “train” has left the station, and I sincerely hope real Conservatives with the right message, are given a chance next year, or this country is doomed, for generations to come!
