Bayshore Tea Party Preparing Primary Slate for LD 13, County Offices
The Bayshore Tea Party Group is preparing a primary slate to challenge 13th district legislators, Senator Joe Kyrillos and Assembly Members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon, and county office holders, Sheriff Shaun Golden and Freeholders Tom Arnone and Serena DiMaso, according to the group’s co-founder Barbara Gonzalez.
Gonzalez told MoreMonmouthMusings that the group has six candidates who are clearing their potential candidacies with their families and employers. She wouldn’t name any of the candidates but expects to make a formal announcement next week. If the slate declares, they will bypass the Monmouth GOP convention on March 23 and file to run in the June 4 Republican primary.
Gonzalez said that former Highlands Mayor Anna Little, who twice ran and won in Congressional primaries with the group’s backing, is not one of the candidates.

Why in God’s name is Barbara on the Board of Directors of the Monmouth County Republican Party! WHY!? Kyrillos has been one of the best Senators ever to serve Monmouth County? Amy Handlin has fought for ethics reform for two decades at both the county and state level. Declan is the Assembly budget officer fighting to stop the D’s from returning NJ back to fical mess?
As for the county – another budget without a tax increase and fewer employees!

BSTP has every right to primary any incumbent they believe is not in line with their philosophy; however, to by pass the convention, (if that is truly done), is a slap in the face to the County Chair. I hope they reconsider.

Just my two cents worth…while everyone has every right to get their petition signed and get their names on the ballot, in the real world (rightly or wrongly) if you try to defeat your same party reasonably popular incumbents who have party/chair support, you are more than likely finished with that party and should not expect any backing from them in the future…..could that be the actual intenet here?

First rule of campaigning, make sure you know what you have before you pick a fight. But then, this just goes to show further that she is so inexperienced and delusional.
Maybe the “vaunted six” will run, maybe their significant others will look at the financial and time commitments to even begin to challenge; start puking and then say NO WAY.

Here my thought, wth ! So what if Someone wants to primary someone else, candidates should not be protected just because they have held a seat for years. The party needs leaders and new ideas not to protect the few. The party needs debates and direction maybe there are better people out there, maybe other people who deserve these positions will step up and start debating and creating. Good for btp , the only ones willing to bring a debate in the election is state officials . Shame on us all, sounds like you guys are more worried about protecting the system and candidates rather then finding true leaders or but the leaders we have to task

Babs just doesn’t understand that this is a blue state and the stage is not right at this time and that you just can not throw very conservative candidates at the voters. The Democrats will lie, call themselves moderates and attack the conservatives as extremist, scaring the voters.

If they are THEN turned down at the convention, then she would be right in challenging.
Instead, show throws out a direct challenge to the Chairman, one who I can not understand why he has not asked her to leave the Board of Directors.
Babs, if you want to be a part of the party, you have to play by the rules of engagement. If not, resign.
However, the message also is one of “be careful of what you wish for;” for surely the BSTP candidates would lose the General Election FIRST because Babs has no skill, no talent to win elections and because the Democrats will paint themselves as moderates and Bab’s crew as extremists; giving more control to the Democrats in Trenton.

Conservatives in LD13 are lucky to have real conservative candidates to vote for in the primary with Tea Party leader Seth Grossman leading the conservative line including Tea Party candidates for State Senator, Assembly and Freeholder. Nobody cares if the real conservatives are not supported by the RINO bosses and machine politicians. They will win anyway because conservatives are sick and tired of being led by the nose to vote for the same gang of RINOs year after year after year. If Seth Grossman loses, Barbara Buono wins because conservatives will stay home in November while only liberals and RINOs go to the polls.
