State Senator Vin Gopal of the 11th Legislative District renamed his public figure facebook page to Re-elect Senator Vin Gopal this morning and announced a virtual campaign kickoff event for January 21 over the weekend.

Gopal, 35, is a former Chairman of the Monmouth County Democrats. He defeated incumbent Republican Senator Jennifer Beck in 2017 and outperformed Phil Murphy in his district in that election.

The young senator is Senate Majority Conference Leader and Chairman of the Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Senate Higher Education Committee and as a member of the Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee.

Gopal’s 2017 running mates, Assembly Members Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey are running for reelection as well, Houghtaling told MMM this morning. The assemblyman said that he and Downey have already hired a campaign manager and are ready to go.

The 11th LD is the Democrats’ “beachhead” in Monmouth County, from which they intend to turn Monmouth blue.
This is why their County-level candidates tend to hail from this part of the county. Building on their wins here, the Dems envision a scenario where they can break even (or slightly lose) countywide, and have majorities in District 11 push them over the top. From there they hope to build their wins to the point of insurmountability.
They took Passaic and Bergen not that long ago, more recently Burlington and Somerset. Morris is showing some signs of “purpling”, and I guarantee they have their eyes on Monmouth.

Facebook smiles, and little bench-building/ social events/ town outreach, won’t cut it, soon. Vin grins, while he picks us off one by one. Yes, we have been somewhat sidelined by the plague. Somerset, used to be a “sister” GOP county- gone just recently, is sad, too. NJ suffering more from the “Blues..”

He is soft and cab beaten. Tom Arnone would beat him handily. Jen Beck could make a come back and beat him too. There are a long list of R’s who can beat Vin. He is a do-nothing brownnoser who wants to be perceived as being “the guy” when he is not. Let’s hope someone reads the polling and sees Vin is soft and can be beaten. One term Vin!

a lot of money to throw around. He’s funded local school board candidates, just to pick off registered Republicans..If he was easy to beat, why has no one stepped up, yet?..He also has two running mates we can’t seem to beat, since 2015.. All of the “blue” urban towns in the county are now in 11..look at the registrations/ turnouts.. Wait til the next legislative re-districting,in which it will likely get worse.. When we lose 3,4,5 to 1 in just Neptune, where do you make all that up? Allenhurst or Shrewsbury? Not..
