Will Trump White House snuff out N.J. push to legalize marijuana?
TRENTON — New Jersey lawmakers say they’re concerned about what President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general could mean for marijuana legalization, but they’re still planning to move forward after Gov. Chris Christie’s term ends in 2018. Trump said during the campaign he favors letting states decide whether marijuana should be…
We need to stop the discrimination of groups that are not being well represented in this debate.
The focus of all of these state’s legislative actions has been on legalization of marijuana, as viewed as a tax/source of revenue for the state, rather than a more inclusive program to legalize much more basic drugs that would actually be a benefit to people who need, or want, them.
Prescriptions for very common ailments are not even legal.
Diabetes/insulin???
Thyroid/Levothyroxine?
EpiPen!
Asthma Inhalers
Human Growth Hormones
Anabolic steroids
All of the above, and I’m sure plenty more, are very important and very commonly used PRESCRIPTION ONLY drugs. The need for a prescription adds significant costs and burden, and just like marijuana, “recreational” or medical, there are going to be plenty of doctors and users who either swear by and condone their use, with and or without medical supervision.
Oh, what a wonderful world it would be if we just stopped the discrimination.
“recreational” marijuana…. bunch of millennials smoking weed in their parent’s basement; with their parents!
vs
“recreational” HGH — little Johnny enjoying a day in the outdoors, getting some fresh air, playing All-American baseball, and practicing to become the next MLB SuperStar signing a $100 million contract for the Yankees.
yeah… keep taxing the poor and stupid people who smoke weed… that’s helping those with a medical condition or those trying to enjoy real recreational activity.
in this most- populated state, is more high people banging into each other, on our ridiculously- crowded roads.. if,in fact, it has medicinal purposes, let it only be used in a prescription pill or injectable, or hospice drip form! Having grown up in the 60’s, saw many people use it to be “cool,” and go on to gateway into worse drugs, and screw up their lives: it is still going on today. Plus, we finally got cigarette smoke out of most public places, we sure don’t need that disgusting acrid smell wafting around the rest of us! Not funny, or cool, and not good for this state, period.
@last thing we need – beautifully said! For the fools who are looking to Colorado as some sort of model for NJ to emulate, keep in mind that DWI, accident, dropout, absenteeism rates, etc have all skyrocketed since they legalized pot. They think a bunch of stoned out zombies will improve our struggling state.
that there is a move afoot by our fine electeds in both parties, to make us even dumber and more clueless, so they can tax us more, while giving us less. All they see is more dollar signs they can buy more votes with- civility, health, good sense, and law- abiding citizens be damned: let’s not be the next state to go further down the proverbial crapper!!
