For all the Uber riders/lovers out there, understand that the farfe cut comes on the backs of the owner operators of the vehicles that you are riding in. Uber takes 25% of the ticket, plus keeps the $1.60 safe riders fee as well. The drivers get the remaining 75%, which is now much smaller. Uber has cut their prices more than a few times in the past 2 years and keeps getting richer, and the drivers keep getting less. All this is food for thought the next time you hail an Uber car. PS, we do work for tips as well, not the party line that Uber feeds it riders. Also, consider a Lyft account, no surges and plenty of drivers to accommodate the calls.
