Another endorsement for Bennett
A group of Republican leaders from the Two Rivers (Navesink and Shrewsbury) area of Monmmouth County have released their endorsement for John O. Bennett to serve another two years as Chairman of the Monmouth County Republican Organization.
Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl, Oceanport Mayor Michael Mahon and the GOP Municipal Chairs of Eatontown, Little Silver, Red Bank, Shrewsbury Township and Tinton Falls issued a press release endorsing Bennett. Mahon’s name is listed as the GOP Chairman of Oceanport, not as mayor of the borough where Bennett serves and Administrator.
We, as chosen Republican leaders in our respected (sic) towns, are supporting Chairman John Bennett for a second term as Monmouth County Republican Committee Chairman.
Our Party, over the past two years, has seen a resurgence of support and stability through the leadership of Chairman Bennett. Republican candidates from all levels of our government in the county have been able to capitalize on the benefits presented to them by his steadfast and dedicated work.
We believe that Chairman John Bennett and his proven track-record of success is exactly what our party needs to continue its growth. Whether it is raising funds or rallying support for our local municipal elections, Chairman Bennett has been nothing short of reliable in his support.
Now it is our turn to return the favor for the Chairman for all of the hard work he has done for us.
Please stand with us to re-elect John Bennett as Chairman of the Monmouth County Republican Party and continue the growth of our party.
Ekdahl is a pick up for Benentt. He was previously in Sheriff Shaun Golden’s corner for Chairman.
This is compete snoozer. Bennett endorsed by his employer and others who carry no weight who were already with him.
Here is my breakdown, if you are not willing to fill a bench for the future party, what is the point?
Goldens ranks are fracturing. Bennett now has support from Western Monmouth to 2 Rivers and everywhere in between. The rout is on!
And when the APP picked up the story on the chairman’s race today, they did not make any issue of Sheriff Golden running. Bennett tried to make that issue. However, look what they did write on their own….
A state lawmaker for 24 years, Bennett was among the most powerful political figures in the state when he lost re-election in the wake of an Asbury Park Press investigation that questioned his billing practices while Marlboro’s municipal attorney.
He repaid the township more than $8,000 and was later cleared in a related federal investigation.
Hey genius, it’s an issue when the guy running the biggest department in County Government has total control over the Freeholder Board. what happens when Chairman Golden wakes up one day and decides he wants a pay raise (like he asked for last year)
Are you saying the Freeholders don’t have the fortitude or solid judgement to make the right decision? Are you saying our 5 Freeholders don’t have the ability to do what is right because they fear the chairman?
Bennett gets the endorsement of 7 towns and you dismiss it, you actually say they have “no weight”. Why is that exactly? Starting to become more clear who the focus of the Golden camp really is.
The haze surrounding unanswered questions at Sheriff Golden’s ” breakfasts” and APP newspaper article is at issue. Sheriff Golden states “the conflict is a fabrication aimed at confusing matters in the June 10,2014 race” Golden refuses a debate ’cause he doesn’t want the truth to come out. The haze surrounds this issue for all.
it’s one person, one vote, one vote is as good as the next, no matter what town you are from!..don’t get silly: with all the talk and opinions, it always comes down to actual turnout that night, anyway..
I guess you missed the newest endorsement.

Now, it is true County Committee people can go a different way than their leadership, and that is only right; but it seems that too many endorsements are piling up against Chairman Bennett.
Remember, he barely won last time; and for so many towns going against him; that is not good
I agree 100 % with this person’s post.
We are individuals with freedom and individual rights.
And if you are adding up votes including KEYPORT, Shaun Golden is way ahead…
Chairman Golden, I like the sound of that!
Bennett won chairman by 3 votes, now lets see how many he will LOSE by! If every county committee person from the respective towns that endorsed each candidate. Golden would crush Bennett. We shall see, but I think Golden has it locked up!
[…] GOP Chairman John Bennett was apparently too enthusiastic in his use of language in the endorsement released yesterday from Republican leaders from Rumson, Shrewsbury Township, Eatontown, Oceanport, Red Bank and Tinton […]
