Who won the debate?
It seems to me that Romney performed best tonight. He didn’t let Obama mischaracterized his proposals. He had a superior command of the issues. He was aggressive yet respectful.
Yet there was no knock out punch.
Obama seemed to be to be detached and disinterested. I don’t recall Obama ever having the demeanor he displayed tonight. He did not engage the camera or Romney. He and Jim Lehrer seemed to be having a nice chat.

lol,,, sorry but that wasn’t me. Hey Romney certainly did what he had to do to stay in the race and I wish Obama was more agressive especially on Romneys tax policy and in bringing up other points. I’m still trying to figure out if Romney changed what he has been proposing (regarding taxes) but at any rate has still not explained what deductions he would eliminate to make up for the $10 trillion revenue reduction that would result over 10 years that would come with the proposal he has been talking about for months. Paul Ryan told Chris Wallace that “there is not enough time” to explain which decuctions would be eliminated however maybe when he debates Biden he can be more forthcoming.

Romney did not change his tax cut proposal. The 5 trillion is a lie. Just because a bunch of libs say it is so does not make it so.

When is Obama going to start talking about his failed Economic and Foreign policy.
When is Obama going to take responsiblity for statements such as this “unemployment will be 5.1 percent after the stimulus is passed.”
Or “this is a one term endeavor I will fix this in one term”
Or “I will reduce the deficit by one half in my first term.”
Or “its unpatriotic to keep racking up debt”
If you can actually say you are safer and better off then you were when his term started you are so paritsan that you are not paying attention.

Well if its not $5 trillion, what is it and what deductions will be cut to make it revenue neutral??? Mitt wont say, Ryan (I dont have enough time, wont say) and Romney advisers wont say. Even Chris Wallace cut through Ryan’s bs on the matter.
Its the centerpiece of his economic plan so its not asking allot of him to provide details.

“Bunch of Liars”: Regarding personal income taxes, all Obama is proposing is to let the Bush tax cuts expire on the top rate. That only affects the top 2% of earners leaving 98% unaffected. The top rate goes back to what it was at the end of Clintons term (which was the last time the country had a budget surplus).
As for spending cuts, the President proposed as part of the above package, huge spending cuts that would have reduced futute deficits by at least $4 trillion. As mentioned previously that was called “The Grand Compromise” which D’s and moderate R’s including the Speaker were very close to reaching a deal….that is until the extremist Tea Party members of the House would not support their own Speaker…so no deal! I don’t like to use the term “liar” but I just saw one factcheck site which has detailed 27 statements by Romney which were either totally untrue or partially untrue. I see his campaign has even taken back a couple of his claims made last night.
Interesting that the nuumber of posts that mention the cost of Romneys proposed cuts in the rates by 20% and the list of what dedcutions he will eliminate is a big fat ZERO
I will stick with the $5 trillion that several independent studys say it will cost and also not that eliminating deductions for the top payers will be a drop in the bucket in terms of overall revenue that will be lost. I will ask again, WHAT DEDUCTIONS IS HE GOING TO ELIMINATE?
Obama was horrible last night. The Empty Chair would’ve been more pleasant to watch.
He appeared arrogant, angry, condescending, and completely unwilling to listen to anything his opponent had to say. Who could negotiate with a guy like that? What kind of leader treats those who would disagree with him, with such obvious contempt? This is the same guy who promised to unite the nation. Hah! Yeah, right.
His performance in the debate was a true “Fail”, as is his presidency. Last night it was painfully clear why.

I’ll give Romney his day in the sun even though he probably broke the fact check record for the most misrepresentation of facts in one debate. 27 and counting. I blame Obama 100% for not calling him out on them.
Note that other challangers who fared very well against incumbent Presidents in their first debate were Mondale who made minced meat out of Reagan (and went on to lose 49 states) and John Kerry who decisively beat W but lost the election.

First of all your” fact checkers” mean nothing to me. You choose the “fact checkers” you want to believe”. Who knows who funds them, what their political slant is. That works both ways so I check my own facts.
All the lies that are posted are Obama’s own words or actions fact checked by me.
Second, you prove you have no idea how the tax code works or even what it is. For example, Based on your comments 98 percent of the population does not own an investment that has a capital gain, since expiration of bush tax cuts will raise the tax on capital gains from 15% to a top rate of 23.8%. (a 60% increase). Also I guess 98 percent of the population do not earn dividends since the tax on dividends will increase from 15% to a top rate of 43.4%(a 200% increase). I guess those retirees that own all those dividend paying stocks are not in that 98%
Please do yourself a favor. Research on your own and please stop regurgitating the liberal party line as if it was gospel.
Now for Obama’s cuts. The very large majority of those cuts will not happen for years and are phased in. But more important, the vast majority of those cuts are in defense and military related expenses. Almost none are in any reforms to entitlement programs.
Now for the Obama lie of the day. This one goes back to 2007 when he made his fire and brimstone speak declaring the Bush admin did not care about the people of New Orleans since they would not waive the stafford act. MY reseach show that the stafford act was waived 10 days prior to that speech.
Please learn the tax code and do your own fact checking before commenting.
