Brightbill Not Running For Reelection In Middletown

Middletown Deputy Mayor Pamela Brightbill will not be seeking a third term on the Township Committee, according to a statement released by the Middletown GOP today.

Zoning Board Member and Housing Authority Commissioner Stephanie Murray will be Mayor Tony Fiore’s running mate.  Fiore is seeking his second term on the Township Committee.  The candidates filed their nominating petitions today.

“While my commitment to public service is no less no than it was six years ago, I feel that it is the right time to pass the baton to another active member of our community, which is why I am pleased to support Stephanie Murray for Township Committee,” said Brightbill. “I know Stephanie will make and excellent addition to the Committee and help preserve the quality of life we all enjoy in Middletown.”

In addition to serving as a member of the Zoning Board and Housing Authority, Murray has also served as a member of the Township’s Parks and Recreation and Open Space Committees.  She is the founder of the community group known as “Middletown Mornings” which is an open forum for residents to meet with their local public officials.  Murray holds a B.A. from Fordham University and runs a small publishing company.

Fiore said of Murray, ” I know Stephanie Murray will serve the taxpayers of Middletown well based on her record of service on the Zoning Board and as a Commissioner on the Housing Authority.  Stephanie is not only a tireless member of our community, but also a dedicated wife and mother to three children whose family has lived in Middletown for 10 years.”

Pam Brightbill was the one Republican township committee member who I thought did a good job. I wish her well.

Looks like not so bright Brightbill wised up.

    Vin,

It was nice of you to wish her well; and she didn’t do a good job. She did a job. She did what she was told to do. She grew-up in town so was well known, had the ability to smile and some capacity for PR work nothing more — ‘Buy Middletown’, which is now an on-line business listing that was never developed.

She would go on and on at TC meetings, be proud of it, and sometimes make a point. She rode T. Wilkens coat tails to victory in her first election and the local Republican hatred and turnout against Obama in her second election. She became a liability to Peter Carton, so she had to go. She didn’t retire. Her job was outsourced.

Henry may have a point about her intellectual capacity for the township committee job.

I get a kick out of these Middletown posters.
based on how well the Republican Politicians do in Middletown there must be about 5 people who leave all these posts and they just keep changing monikers.

Riddle me this. If things are so bad in middletown why do the republicans keep winning? I remeber a time when the Democrats where actually competitive in Middletown. About 35 years ago.

Everything I have seen and heard Pam did a good job. I admire politicians who self impose term limits and do not think they are indispensible.

    Tr,
Republicans keep winning because they keep lying and they are very good at it. They alter the facts — Scharfenberger not admitting to attending a Shadow Lake meeting because the questioner had the wrong meeting place. Scharfenberger lying about his poltical patronage job in Trenton (Asbury Park Press devoted a whole editorial to it). Plenty more; thirty years of it.
