Middletown Is Not Going Broke
You might have been concerned if you saw the Neptune Nudniks’ head line yesterday, Middletown missed loan deadline for dredging of lake.
Middletown did not miss a loan payment. It didn’t even miss a deadline as the headline states. The township’s leadership chose not to apply for a loan now for a project, the dredging of Shadow Lake, that they don’t anticipate happening until 2012. Why would they?
If your bank was having a special on home mortgages that expires on on Friday, but you’re not in the market to buy a new home, did you miss the deadline for the mortgage special?
The Asbury Park Press article does present interesting and useful information about the Shadow Lake situation. It reveals that township officials are on top of the situation and are examining their alternatives. It is unfortunate that the Nudniks chose to spin the information as if there was crisis.
Art,
It’s unfortunate that you comment on something that you have no knowledge of, but once again chose to shrill for the Middletown GOP.
I real implications of the story is that Scharfy, Kyrillos and others mislead residents who live by Shadow Lake into thinking that the only thing holding up the dredging was the DEP and that as soon as they caved in to pressure from the governor the dredging would start. Now we find out that is not the case.
Scharfy knew this when he met with residents at Shadow Lake village in October. Scharfy knew this when he met with Kyrillos and DEP officials in Kyrillos’s office on Oct. 21st and he knew at candidates night on Oct. 28th. but again chose not to mention that funding wasn’t availible. He failed to mention that at the earliest dredging of Shadow Lake could not happen until 2012.
That is the story here, not that any missed loan payment or some made up fake spin on the part of the APP.
Once again Gerry Scharfenberger and the Township withheld information from residents on an issue that of interest to voters in order to gain votes.
Hey DR – how does it feel to be a pathetic, sore loser cry baby who can’t bring him/herself to admit that the Republicans have made Middletown into one of the top places to live in the country and the hapless Democrats do nothing but run horrible candidates like Short, Walsh, Grenafege, Mahoney, etc. whose only ideas involve trashing Republicans, their countless accomplishments and their signs? Even the one slightly presentable candidate, Sean Byrnes got slaughtered in the last two elections. It must be really depressing to be a Middletown Democrat. I would say “and a loser” but that would be redundant.
Reality check, you must be living on another planet. It’s your party who does nothing but trash and smear candidates. You called Byrnes a career politician, accused him and Short of being COAH and union supporters.
Still attacking Pat Walsh. Couldn’t come up with anything on Mahoney because you couldn’t find any dirt. That’s the MO of the Republican party. Attack and divert.
The the Dems ran on the many local issues that the public at large were quite vocal about. Taxes, turf fields, poor planning. They didn’t have to lie, the truth was bad enough.
In the end the anti Dem national sentiment caused more voters to come out and just vote down party lines.
I wouldn’t be patting yourself on the back.
You people vote in an incompetent liar and and unknown. Congratulations, doesn’t say a whole lot about the caliber of the residents in this town. Now you can’t complain about anyone, you’re completely in charge. Good luck, you’re going to need it.
Reality check: There you go again, making up stories and attacking good honest people.
Unfortunately honesty and integrity doesn’t mean a whole lot to half the people in this town. What accomplishments? $5.5 mil in debt. Trashing Republicans? How about just holding them accountable? Signs, now really who are you kidding? I wouldn’t put it past any of you to spray paint your own. You put a sign above your own sign saying “Dems stop knocking down this sign. You do it every year in different locations.
These were 2 tough years for Dems to run. I would hardly call losing by 2,800 votes this year a slaughter. You can gloat all you want, but your party has made a mess of things, and you’re the only ones now who can clean it up. Good luck is right!
