McEnery: Ryan Green is a “petulant pipsqueak”

Municipal Chairman likens Township Committeeman to fugitive Edward Snowden

Invoking the recently deceased radio personality, Bob Grant, Manalapan Republican Chairman Steve McEnery referred to Township Committeeman Ryan Green as a “petulant pipsqueak”  and likened Green to Edward Snowden at last night’s reorganization meeting.

Here are McEnery’s remarks are prepared for delivery:

A famous radio personality died recently; he was a former resident of Manalapan and worked in radio for 50 years or so.  His name was Bob Grant many of you may remember him. He was a strong conservative voice, but also provided a little amusement along with his views on all things.

He had a few memorable lines that he used regularly.  “Get off my radio” was one that comes to mind. Another was when he addressed someone as a “petulant pipsqueak”.

One of our Committeemen views himself as a “whistleblower”; a comrade of Ed Snowden who I and many of the people I talk with view as traitor. When the full story is known to the residents, Manalapan will know we don’t have a whistle blower.

A number of years ago Manalapan was known as a town “2 clowns and a juggler short of a circus” because of its inability to govern peacefully keeping the residents first and foremost.  We have worked hard and been successful changing that opinion of Manalapan; until recently.

Now, one person who does not get his way is willing to push us backward to become that circus again. A person who would rather make threats, real and veiled; demand that he gets his way; puts his own ego ahead of the needs of the residents and now wants to be mayor. I’m glad that’s not happening.

I want to apologize to the residents for nominating a person that we believed would be a team player. I was wrong.

I want to apologize to the County residents and the Board of Chosen Freeholders for suggesting he would make a good Freeholder. His true colors came out after he failed at that endeavor. I’m grateful for that or the county could have become a circus.

I guess we don’t know until someone is tested, weather he is a team player and a person that will put the residents first and foremost, ahead of his own priorities as promised; or in the words of Bob Grant a petulant pipsqueak.

I think we now know that answer.

Green has politicized  an agreement that he voted for with the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad and accused Mayor Jordan Maskowitz of violating the Open Public Records Act because he wasn’t selected mayor by his colleagues on the Township Committee.

Here we go again. Ryan Greene reveals what he believes is wrongdoing–he exposes it and is bullied and vilified. From what I understand, he wants the public to have its say on any negotiated contract to privatize the ambulance service. But others on the all-Republican committee say to the effect, “Let them eat cake; the public has no right to know.” Really??

What are the particulars of this contract–who the hell knows, because the public has had no questions to ask or any input themselves. How does Englishtown–a partner in this feel? Who knows? Again, there was no public discussion on this matter.

Jordan Maskowitz, deputy mayor, is quoted as saying the public has no requirement to know the contents of the contract–again: Really? Aren’t contracts OPRA’able? Of course they are!

The Republicans have to stop bullying their own who refuse to job off the cliff like blindless, clueless lemmings. But then again name calling and bullying seem to be the true calling cad of Republicans in this county if you don’t go along with their agenda.

I really believe–and time will play this out–that McEnery, who now feels his oats due to the all-Republican majority, will take a huge hit on this one. Mark my words–people don’t like bullies–and they will be dealt with appropriately.

Sounds like legitimate concerns to me.

Agreed, sounds like legitimate questions and concerns, not grandstanding.

If I’m understanding correctly, Ryan’s questions/concerns are that taxpayers purchased some vehicles at market value. Those vehicles are now to be used at a below market rental rate by a private company to earn a profit, while “serving” the public, at an additional cost to the public?

If that’s an innaccurate summary of the story, can someone straighten it out for me? Otherwise, where was I supposed to sign up to get some free ambulances so that I can start my ambulance-monopoly business?

  5. Republican Bullying has to STOP!! said at 11:45 am on January 8th, 2014:

Hey Art, there is a huge breaking story about GWB Gate. Sounds like another case of bullying to me. One that has disrupted and endangered the lives of many—Dems and Republicans alike.

This is going to have HUGE implications

Lets get on with that story!!

has to go back to his ill fated run for Freeholder to see what kind of low life Green is. Way behind in numbers before the vote, he launched a negative attack that was baseless.

So, “if you are with Ryan,” then maybe your thoughts are jaded.
