Curley Accused of Official Misconduct, Corruption

The FBI and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office have conducted at least five interviews into the conduct of Freeholder John P. Curley and former Monmouth County Counsel Timothy B. Middleton, Esq., according to former Assemblyman Michael Panter, in his capacity as in-house legal counsel of Realty Data Systems, LLC (RDS), a company that performs property inspections for many municipalities participating in the New Jersey Assessment Demonstration Program (ADP).

Panter disclosed the law enforcement investigation into Curley and Middleton in a detailed nine page letter to Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone, Monmouth County Counsel Michael Fitzgerald, and County Administrator Teri O’Connell, with copies to the Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI, wherein the former legislator alleges that Middleton was the author of the anonymous letter which alleged corruption in the ADP, that Curley referred, with great fanfare and press coverage, to the Prosecutor in September of 2015, during the height of his last reelection campaign. Monmouth County Gets $1.6 million in federal funds for road safety projects in Holmdel and Upper Freehold

Monmouth County has been awarded $1.6 million in federal funds from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) for the design and construction of road improvements in Holmdel and and Upper Freehold, according to an announcement by Freeholder Director Tom Arnone. The award was approved at a NJTPA meeting in Newark this morning.

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders reorganization meeting was held last week and I am honored to say I was selected to serve as director of the Board. Monmouth County’s Reorganization Postponed Till Friday

Pat Impreveduto and Lillian Burry will take the Oath of Office as Freeholders on January 5

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders have rescheduled their 2018 Reorganization Meeting until Friday, January 5 at 3PM, due to the expected snowmageddon.  The meeting had been scheduled for Thursday, January 4.

The Freeholders will hold their workshop meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the Hall of Records on Friday as well.

Freeholder-elect Patrick Impreveduto will be sworn into office at the meeting. Freeholder Lillian Burry will take the Oath of Office for her fifth term on the Board.

Tom Arnone will be Freeholder Director in 2018.  Burry will be Deputy Director.

The meeting will take place at BioTechnology High School, 5000 Kozloski Rd in Freehold Township.

Curley Harassment Probe Cost $24K

The investigation into disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley’s harassment of Monmouth County employees cost taxpayers $24,075.00, according to documents obtained by MMM via OPRA request.

Former Acting Associate Supreme Court Justice Mary Catherine Cuff commenced the investigation by reviewing the County’s Anti-Discrimination policy on June 15, 2017, according to her invoice dated November 14, 2017.   Judge Cuff conducted four interviews in July and three interviews in August.   She spent 7.25 hours reviewing tape of Board meetings during the month of August. Happy November! With all of this warm weather recently, it’s hard to believe we’re just a few weeks away from celebrating the holidays. Either way, it’s a great time of the year and, as always, there is so much going on and so much to do in Monmouth County.

As we approach the end of the year, I would like to give a brief update on the second phase of the Shark River dredging project. As part of the second phase, dredge materials have been temporarily placed on Seaview Island until they are removed at the conclusion of the project next spring. The actual dredging process – which includes pumping the material onto the island to dry – was scheduled to be completed by the end of this year and I am pleased to announce the project remains on schedule. Monmouth County Freeholders proclaim Infinite Love of Kids Fighting Cancer Day

As an elected official, you have the chance to meet hundreds of people during your tenure. I would like to share a story about a few special people I had the honor of recently meeting in person during a meeting of the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

It all started a couple weeks ago when I was reading through a local newspaper and came across a story about a charity event held to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. As part of the fundraiser, members of the community, including first responders, volunteered to have their heads shaved by children. DiMaso Named To Ashley Lauren Foundation Board

Freeholder Serena DiMaso has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Ashley Lauren Foundation, according to an announcement by the Spring Lake based charity that provides financial assistance, emotional support and many other programs to children and families throughout New Jersey who are suffering from the hardships of pediatric cancer.

Founder and CEO Monica Vermeulen, Ashely’s mom, states, “We are honored to have Serena DiMaso join our Board. Serena brings a tremendous amount of experience which will help to further our mission of helping children with cancer.”

DiMaso is not newcomer to charitable boards.  She serves on the Meridian Hospital’s Corporation Board of Trustees, is Chairwoman of the Bayshore Hospital Foundation.

The Arnone Report: Remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice

As we observe Memorial Day, we should take the time to remember those who lost their lives while bravely serving our country. It is because of these heroic men and women that we can continue to enjoy the freedoms they so bravely fought to defend.

Let it also not be lost on us the sacrifices made by the families of these heroes, including Gold Star Mothers. Through their grief and heartbreak, these women have been pillars of strength in their communities, keeping alive the legacies of their loved ones.

I would also like to thank those who have served and are currently serving our country. I recently had the opportunity to meet some of the men and women who put their lives and safety at risk to defend our country during the Veterans and Armed Forces Appreciation Day at Camp Evans. This was truly a special event.
