The Howell Police Department has been awarded a $93,357 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice for its Youth Engagement Program , according to an announcement today by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.
The Mayor and Council of Farmingdale want to first express our deepest sympathies to the families involved in the tragedy which occurred Friday night. Please keep the families in your prayers, while respecting their privacy in this time of grieving.
Also remember to keep in your prayers the men and women who serve our country, who come home needing our love, support and help. This type of tragedy is unfortunately becoming more common to all of us, they deserve our support for what they do for us.

Brian Young, 52 of Freehold, was arrested on Friday and charged with second degree Sexual Assault and third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, according to an announcement by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Young, the owner of the Big Frog Custom T-Shirts and More franchise on Route 9 in Howell, is accused of inappropriately touching a minor who was in the store on Wednesday, November 7.
Chris Swendeman, spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office, declined to reveal the age or gender of the minor making the accusation.
David F. Hohsfield, 62, of the Whiting section of Manchester Township (Ocean County) was arrested by the Howell Township Police on Wednesday, May 9, and charged with eight counts of harassment.
The charges against Hohsfield are fourth degree crimes due to his status as a Tier 3 sex offender on parole.
William H. Spaulding, Jr, 61, of Tinton Falls was found dead in the parking lot of the Home Depot store at Route 9 and West Farm Road in Howell on Friday afternoon.
The Howell Police Department said on facebook that Spaulding’s death in suspicious. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said an autopsy is expected to be performed on Saturday.
Howell Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at 1:31 p.m on Friday reporting a man lying on the ground at the Home Depot location. Spaulding was pronounced dead at the scene.
A married father and grandfather, Spaulding was a Tinton Falls homeowner since 1997, He was a sales manager at Sears, according to his LinkedIn profile. There is a massage therapy business registered at his home and a he had massage therapist license that expired in 2012, according to public records. Read the rest of this entry »
