Unhappy Endings at Ocean Township Massage Parlor

January is not ending happily for five Monmouth County men and two women with Asian names—one from Palisades Park and one from Queens, NY–who were arrested on prostitution charges at  the ABC Spa on Route 35 in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township.

Members of the Ocean Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau started to investigate prostitution at the ABC Spa, 1719 Highway 35, in early January, according to an announcement from Detective Lt. Timothy R. Torchia.  Read the rest of this entry »

Ocean Township Police And First Aid Squad Deliver A Baby Girl

Not all police news out of Ocean Township is of drugs, prostitution or shoplifting busts.

Yesterday afternoon Officer Thomas Rant responded to a West Park Avenue residence for a woman in labor.  The woman was full term and having contractions one minute apart, according to a statement by Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia.

The Oakhurst First Aid arrived along with Officers Kevin Donohoe, Phil Jackson and Sergeant Paul Flammia who assisted with the delivery of a baby girl. Both mom and baby were transported to Monmouth Medical Center for further medical care.

Ocean Township Police Announce Drug and Prostitution Arrests

Three women were arrested in Ocean Township on prostitution and drug charges last month, according to announcements from Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia.

On April 2, Marina Sviridenko, 28 of Toms River, was caught in field stop by Detective Michael Legg and Officer Dean Schoch.  The investigation revealed that Sviridenko was engaged in prostitution, was in possession of cocaine and had an active warrant for her arrest in Tinton Falls. She was issued a summons for future court date and turned over to the Tinton Falls Police.

Wanted By The Ocean Township Police

Detective Lieutenant Timothy Torchia didn’t say what the woman is suspected of doing in the Ocean Township Target strore on Saturday night, but it is save to surmise she wasn’t responded to the help wanted sign.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact Detective Jesse Orbach at (732)531-1428 or [email protected].  Those who wish to remain anonymous can call (732)531-3323 or email [email protected] .

Detective Lt. Tim Torchia wouldn’t say what the man is wanted for because it’s an ongoing investigation and perps who know what their wanted for tend not to be cooperative.

Torchia said that the photo is from a retail establishment on Route 35 in the Township.

Shoplifter Captured After Falling Off His Bicycle

Mark A. Lawrence, 52, of Lake Como, was arrested by the Ocean Township Police Department last evening after fleeing from Target of Ocean on a bicycle, according to a statement by Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia.  He was taken into custody after falling off the bicycle and putting up a brief struggle.

Officer Ryan Krug responded to a shoplifting in progress call at Target and observed the suspect, later identified as Lawrence, cycling away.  Officer Dean Schooch spotted Lawrence near Asbury Circle.
