Arnone Report: Pound the Pavement for Purple

I would like to wish everyone a happy fall season – now that it’s beginning to finally feel a little cooler outside.

I’d like to focus on one topic in particular for this week’s letter and that is the upcoming Pound the Pavement for Purple 5k and 2-mile walk in Neptune and Neptune City this Saturday, October 12th. This annual race is presented by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Neptune Township Committee.

Gopal needs to end his silence on Sager and Nelson

Senator Vin Gopal has been silent about the radical anti-cop, pro-narcotics views expressed by Jeana Sager and Moira Nelson, Democrat candidates for Middletown Township Committee and Monmouth County freeholder.

We gave the senator a pass for his silence when his successor as Monmouth Democrat Chairman, David Brown, condemned Sager’s declaration that cops are criminals.  Gopal was on his honeymoon, a trade mission to India with the Murphys, when that story broke.  But the honeymoon is over now that Nelson has been exposed and Brown has remained silent.

Hazlet Lawyer Arrested For Stealing $285,000 From Real Estate Clients

Steven H. Salami, 44, an attorney from Hazlet, was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with two counts of Misapplication of Entrusted Property, second degree crimes, and three counts of Misapplication of Entrusted Property, third degree crimes, after an investigation revealed he stole $285,000 from four victims from April, 2019 through August, 2019. Salami is a practicing attorney with a law office located in Hazlet, N.J.  Salami is currently being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, pending a detention hearing, according to an announcement by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Trump signs Smith’s Autism CARES Bill into law

President Donald J. Trump signed the Autism CARES Act of 2019 into law today. The new law, which was sponsored by Congressman Chris Smith and and Rep Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania, provides $1.8 billion in federal funding over five years to help children and adults with Autism and their families.

Super Pooper’s Lawsuit Dumped

Dr. Thomas Tramaglini’s federal lawsuit against the Holmdel Police Department for releasing his mugshot to the media after his arrest for pooping in public has been dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Anne E. Thompson, according to multiple media reports.

Tramaglini, 43 of Matawan, was superintendent of schools in Kenilworth when he was caught pooping at the Holmdel High School athletic field during his early morning run.  He pleaded guilty and paid a $500 fine.

Golden pledges to pursue legal remedies against Murphy’s sanctuary policies

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden responded to NJ Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s directive issued this afternoon which directs corrections officers at the Monmouth County Jail not to cooperate with ICE with a pledge to fight the directive legally and to keep Monmouth County residents safe.

“We shall continue to pursue legal remedies to this directive, which deprives Monmouth County of the ability to identify individuals who have committed crimes and are here illegally,” Sheriff Golden said in a statement.
