N.J. coronavirus clusters linked to Middletown teen house party, LBI lifeguard gathering increase to about 100 cases

Roughly 100 coronavirus cases have been linked to a teen house party in Monmouth County and a separate gathering of Jersey Shore lifeguards on Long Beach Island leading state officials to urge caution for those kinds of flare ups.

“We continue to see outbreaks arising from gatherings among young people,” Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said during New Jersey 100th coronavirus briefing on Monday.

Murphy’s Borrowing: Will the NJ Supreme Court Ignore The Constitution (Again)?

In 2002 the citizens of New Jersey were preparing to choose a US Senator for a six year term in the November election. The candidates were selected, via the primary system, to be Democrat incumbent Robert Torricelli and Republican Douglas Forrester. As the election wound toward November the Democrats found that they had several ethics issues with Mr. Torricelli and his reelection was far from assured. Mr. Torricelli, following President Truman’s dictum “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen”, proceeded to, on September 30 withdraw his candidacy. The Republicans began their victory dance as Mr. Forrester was now unopposed and the Democrats would be prevented from replacing Mr. Torricelli because of the time constraints of the New Jersey Constitution.

Phil Murphy complained Wednesday about the latest federal stimulus proposal from Senate Republicans and its lack of funding for states, New Jersey has spent less than 3% of the almost $2.4 billion it has received from the federal government to cover general needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Middletown Health Department Asks That Teens Get Tested For COVID-19

A July 11 house party on West Front Street in Middletown is believed to be the source of a COVID-19 outbreak among Township area teenagers, according to an announcement by the local health department.

The Middletown Township Department of Health and Social Services is currently investigating a cluster of approximately 20 COVID-19 cases in young adults ages 15 to 19.
