Improvements Started At Colts Neck Bottleneck

Federal, state, county and local officials gathered in Colts Neck on Friday for the ground breaking of the long awaited improvements to the intersection of State Route 34 and County Route 537.  The project is designed to ease traffic congestion at the crossroad that is traveled by 37,000 motorists daily and to reduce the use of local roads by the thousands of motorists using alternate routes. O’Scanlon challenges Jersey City Mayor Fulop to pressure Speaker Prieto to extend Arbitration Cap

Jersey City Police Officers were awarded a 2% pay increase by a state appointed arbitrator this week.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, not the Democrat nominee for Governor, declared that the best interests of his city’s residents and taxpayers prevailed, according to Hudson County View. 

The arbitrator’s decision will enable Mayor Fulop and the city council to keep their budget within the two-percent levy cap and hold the line on property taxes from substantially increasing.

“This is not a day where we say that we won, but rather that the best interest of the city, its residents and the taxpayers prevailed,” Fulop said in a statement reported by HCV.

“We have negotiated successfully with six of the city’s other unions to adopt measures that correct many of the outdated contract provisions and worked productively with the unions for the benefit of their members and the public. Unfortunately, the POBA chose a different route and an independent arbitrator was required.”

Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) today called on Fulop to join him in challenging Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto to put legislation making the cap permanent up for vote in the Assembly. Read the rest of this entry »

Neptune man admits to ATM theft spree along Jersey Shore

MONMOUTH COUNTY — A New Jersey man faces up to four years in prison after admitting stealing three ATMs, including one at Boardwalk Hall in Asbury Park, in a 10-day span last year, according to a report. Middletown Police: No weapons found at Middletown North student’s home, threat not credible

The Middletown Police Department and the Middletown School District issued a statement on Wednesday night informing parents, faculty and students at High School North that a video was posted on Snapchat Tuesday night has been investigated and deemed to be “non-credible.”

Former Goldman Sachs banker Phil Murphy, the Democrat nominee for NJ Governor, declared unequivocally that he would make New Jersey a sanctuary state, should he be elected and should Congress fail to act on DACA before the March 5, 2018 deadline set by President Trump when he revoked former President Obama’s Executive Order which gave extra-constitutional protections to illegal immigrants who were brought into the United States as children.
