Art G and Tommy G on the radio this afternoon

MMM publisher Art Gallagher will be Tommy G’s guest this afternoon at 4:06 PM on the best afternoon drive time radio show in New Jersey.

Tommy and Art will be discussing the tragedy in Parkland, Florida—and the apparent police failure there.  We’ll discuss weather or not schools in NJ should have armed police officers and/or teachers.

We also address the tragic shooting in Asbury Park last week that resulting in the death of 10 year old Yovanni Banos-Merino.

Should prisoner’s be able to vote in New Jersey?  Is that a social justice issue? You’ll love Art’s answer to that question.

If all goes as planned, we’ll finish the segment by grading Governor Phil Murphy’s first month in office.

Extradition Hearing For Accused Killer of Asbury Park 10 Year Old Set For Tuesday

The extradition hearing for Karon Council, the 18 year old Neptune Township man accused of murdering 10 year old Yovanni Banos-Merino is scheduled for 1pm on Tuesday February 27 before Judge Kim Thersea Mollica in the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to the Court’s website.

Council has been held at the Broward County Jail since his arrest on Sunday in Pompano Beach.

His alleged accomplice, 16 year old Jahdel Birch, is in the custody of the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.  Birch in due in Court in Freehold on Tuesday.

Accused Killer, Karon Council, Captured in Florida

Karon Council is the suspected shooter of Yovanni Banos-Merino, 10, of Asbury Park

The suspected shooter of 10 year old Yovanni Banos-Merino has been captured in Florida, according to law enforcement sources.

Karon Council, 18, of Neptune Township was apprehended in Pompano Beach, Florida this evening after eluding arrest since the murder of Merino and wounding his mother, Lilia Merino, 38, on Wednesday night, February 21.

The Neptune Township 18 year old was charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose on Friday, February 23.  His alleged accomplice, Jahdel Birch, 16 of Neptune Township, was arrested at Neptune High School on Thursday the 22.  Read the rest of this entry »

Karon Council, 18, of Neptune Township has eluded arrest for the murder of  Yovanni Banos-Merino, 10, of Asbury Park and the wounding of his mother,  Lilia Merino, 38.

“We are seeking the public’s assistance in helping us locate the second individual involved in this horrible crime,” announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

16 Year Old Neptune Boy Charged in Asbury Park Shooting

A 16 year old boy from Neptune Township was arrested at Neptune High School this afternoon and charged in the shooting death of a 10 year old Asbury Park boy and the wounding of the boy’s 39 year old mother, according to an announcement by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Armed Officer “never went in,” “did nothing” during Parkland shooting

The armed school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida “never went in” during the Feb. 14 school shooting that left 17 people dead. Rick Hibell replaces Gerry Scharfenberger on Middletown Township Committee

Rick W. Hibell was appointed to the Middletown Township Committee on Tuesday, February 20.  He replaces Gerry Scharfenberger who resigned from the Committee upon being selected to the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

A native of the Belford section of the Township, Hibell is a former Fire Chief and a member of the Planning Board.  He is the owner of E-Z Docks Marine Construction.

10 year old boy killed in Asbury Park shooting

A ten year old boy was shot and killed at about 11PM last night on the 400 block of Ridge Ave in Asbury Park, according to multiple news reports.  A 39 year old women, the boys mother according to a source, was wounded in the shooting.

MMM has learned that the child was a student at Bradley Elementary School.
