Feds Used Rep Smith’s Law To Snag Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted financier pedophile, will learned today if he will remain incarcerated pending the outcome of his trail on charges of Sex Trafficking Conspiracy and Sex Trafficking.

Epstein is charged under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 which was authored and shepherded through Congress by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ-4).

MMM asked Smith to comment on the Epstein indictment and the TVPA’s impact on prosecuting human trafficking.

“Nearly 20 years ago, I wrote the Trafficking Victims Protection Act which is being used in the Epstein prosecution, to give law enforcement better tools to prosecute, convict and jail human traffickers—and to help rescue and protect victims, who are mostly women and children,” said Smith who also authored four subsequent laws reauthorizing, strengthening and expanding America’s anti-human trafficking programs.

Golden Responds To AG’s ICE Letter

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden took a respectful tone in his response to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office strongly worded rebuke of his extending the County’s 287 (g) agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).

In a letter dated July 9 to Veronica Allende, Director of the Division of Criminal Justice in the AG’s Office, Golden promised to provide the information demanded in Allende’s letter of July 8 and enlisted the support of ICE to also provide information to the Attorney General’s Office.

Golden touted the success of Monmouth County’s 287 (g) agreement with ICE, which he said has been in  place since 2010 and is only instituted at the jail:

Sheriff Golden signed 10 year deal with ICE

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden quietly extended the County’s 287 (g) agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency on March 8, 2019, apparently in defiance of the Murphy Administration’s Sanctuary State Policies as implemented by State Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal’s Immigration Trust Directive.

Golden’s agreement with ICE, and that of Cape May County Sheriff Robert A. Nolan, were reported last night by NJ.com.

287 (g) agreements empower local law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws and to cooperate with ICE officers. Read the rest of this entry »

Arnone Report: Celebrating Independence, Fixed Roads and Improvement at the Dump

By Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Fourth of July holiday! I’d like to thank all those who have served our great nation and protected our freedom. Your service and commitment is truly appreciated.

To celebrate the holiday, I participated in a few events that showcased how special small-town traditions truly are. I’d like to thank the Monmouth County Historical Association for hosting their Independence Day Celebration at the Allen House, where I had the honor of participating in the reading of the Declaration of Independence.

I was happy to spend part of the holiday walking in the annual Ocean Grove Fourth of July Parade. As always, I had a great time walking the route and seeing everyone dressed in their best patriotic clothing while holding American flags.

O’Scanlon Calls For Judge Troiano’s Resignation

Senator Declan O’Scanlon

Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) is calling for the resignation of Monmouth County Superior Court Judge James Troiano, who recently ruled that a 16-year-old rape survivor was not truly raped since she was not held at gunpoint. Judge Troiano also reportedly urged the survivor to consider that her attacker came from a “good family” before “ruining his life” with assault charges.

“Judge Troiano’s comments are truly abhorrent and clearly highlight the fact that he needs to be removed immediately by the Supreme Court,” O’Scanlon said. “We simply cannot stand by and allow a sitting judge to tell a 16-year-old sexual assault survivor that she doesn’t deserve justice because her attacker might get into a ‘good college.’” Read the rest of this entry »
