Accused Long Branch shooter named

Miguel Leal Câmara, 40, was the man arrested in connection with the shooting death that occurred yesterday afternoon on Broadway in Long Branch, according to a facebook announcement by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

One person is dead and another in custody following a shooting incident on Broadway in Long Branch on Tuesday afternoon, the Monmouth County Prosecutor announced via social media.

I hope everyone is having a great summer! I cannot believe we’re just a few weeks away from Labor Day!

The Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering has been extremely busy this summer working on numerous projects throughout the county. As liaison to this department, I am happy to report on the status of several of these projects. I would also like to thank our County employees who worked long hours to repair numerous bridges and roadways damaged during last week’s rain event. It is because of their hard work that nearly all bridges damaged during the storm have since been re-opened.

Fireworks mishap injures two in Sea Bright

Two people suffered minor injuries on Friday night due to errant rockets during a fireworks display at the Chapel Beach Club in Sea Bright, according to sources familiar with the incident.

The video obtained by MMM shows a rocket hitting a structure at the beach club and another hitting the ground on the beach south of the club while men can be heard screaming.

Welle’s Tax Plan Would Increase Taxes For 21.3% of CD-4 Residents

Josh Welle, the progressive or centrist (depending on who he’s talking to) Democrat challenging Congressman Chris Smith in the fourth congressional district, proposed raising taxes on the top 5% of income earners yesterday during his appearance on FoxBusiness’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast.

The Welle Tax would impact 21.3% of the households in New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District, according to data provided by StatisticalAtlas.com.

Sheriff’s Officers, Middletown PD, Locate Missing Middletown Man With Project Lifesaver Technology

Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers and Middletown Police Officers located an elderly Middletown man who wandered from home last night through the use of the Sheriff’s Office’s Project Lifesaver technology, according to an announcement by Sheriff Shaun Golden.

The 69 year old man was located and returned to safety by Sheriff’s Officers Kurt Kroeper and Ralph Irizzary as well as Detective Al Scott and Sgt. CJ Higgins of the Middletown PD.

Whale Capsizes Boat Off Monmouth Coast

DEAL-Two people were tossed overboard while fishing about a mile off the coast of Deal on Thursday after a whale capsized their boat.

According to the New Jersey State Police, two people in a 20-foot boat were fishing approximately one mile off of Deal when they had a close encounter with a whale.

“The whale surfaced beneath the vessel, causing it to capsize,” the State Police said. “Both occupants fell overboard as a result, but fortunately no one was hurt.” Read the rest of this entry »

Congressman Smith Praises NJ Company For Solar Installation and Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts

Congressman Chris Smith, GE Solar Executive CEO Erik Schiemann, Plant Manager Cyndi Bray-McDaniel and Ingersoll-Rand Chairman-CEO Michael Lamach

Congressman Chris Smith was in Hamilton on Tuesday to celebrate the installation of a new 1.9 million, 5000 panel, solar power array at Ingersoll-Rand’s Trane Residential HVAC manufacturing facility.

The plant, which has been operational since the 1940’s ,employs almost 1200 people in two shifts. The new solar array will provide 15% of the facility’s electricity and is part of the company’s commitment to reduce their global greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2020.
