Christie Administration Announces Launch of “reNew Jersey Stronger” Housing Assistance Initiative

NJ Office of Recovery and Rebuilding

$780 Million Available for Homeowners Impacted by Superstorm Sandy

Trenton, NJ – Marking a major step forward in the recovery from Superstorm Sandy, the Christie Administration today launched the reNew Jersey Stronger housing assistance initiative to assist homeowners impacted by the storm. Beginning today, eligible homeowners can apply for grant assistance at www.renewjerseystronger.org or by calling 1-855-SANDYHM (1-855-726-3946).

The grants are designed to encourage homeowners to resettle in their primary residences and help them reconstruct, rehabilitate, elevate and mitigate their homes.

“We are working incredibly hard to get money out to Sandy-impacted individuals as quickly as possible, and today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to this mission,” said Governor Chris Christie. “Sandy may have damaged homes in New Jersey, but it did not destroy New Jerseyans’ spirits. With the help of initiatives such as reNew Jersey Stronger housing grants, we will be back, stronger than ever.”

Today’s launch of the housing assistance programs comes less than a month after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved New Jersey’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Action Plan. The Action Plan details how the State will utilize $1,829,520,000 in federal funding to help homeowners, renters, businesses and communities impacted by Superstorm Sandy. The reNew Jersey Stronger housing assistance initiative will utilize $780 million of the allocation.

Christie Angers Global Warming Cultists

By Matt Rooney, Save Jersey

global_warming_by_teabingYou may’ve missed this the other day, Save Jerseyans, but some WNYC reporter asked Chris Christie at his Lavallette presser whether NJ Transit had been under-prepared for climate change ahead of Superstorm Sandy. Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently the reporter had never ridden NJ Transit before or she’d know that its problems predate the global warming fad!

Virtually everyone in the country, however, knows that the Governor of New Jersey has a very low tolerance for dumb questions; he responded NO to the WNYC question, “cause I don’t think there’s been any proof thus far that Sandy was caused by climate change…”

Well, first of all, I don’t agree with the premise of your question because I don’t think there’s been any proof thus far that Sandy was caused by climate change,” Christie said, as residents and officials from Lavallette clapped. “But I would absolutely expect that that’s exactly what WNYC would say, because you know liberal public radio always has an agenda. And so since I disagree with the premise of your question I don’t feel like I have to answer the rest of it.” (You can hear the full audio at the bottom of this post.)”

Buono Claims Gallagher’s Endorsement

weird

With Governor Chris Christie racking up endorsements from Democratic elected officials, State Senator Barbara Buono, the cash strapped presumptive Democratic nominee for governor, has resorted to false advertising on facebook.

She is claiming Republican blogger Art Gallagher’s endorsement.

Gallagher is the publisher of MoreMonmouthMusings and a frequent contributor to SaveJersey.

Rather than protest or “unlike” Barbarba Buono for NJ, Gallagher encourages his facebook friends and followers to click on the link when they see it. “By clicking on Barbara Buono’s ad, her campaign will be charged more money by facebook,” Gallagher said to himself while writing this article, “that will weaken her campaign further and give facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg more money to donate to Christie.”

Christie Gets His Body Piercings In The Summer

Governor Christie’s office released parts of his interview with NBC’s Rock Center that did not make it to the Friday night broadcast.

Christie will be accompanying Prince Harry to the Jersey Shore this week.   If there is a Prince Albert in Christie’s future, it will probably be a better kept secret than his lap band surgery.

Do the clothes make the man?

Cory Booker was out of state exploring a his candidacy for U. S. Senate, so Governor Chris Chistie had to rely on his father, Jon Bon Jovi, Alec Baldwin, James Carville, and Kim Guadagno playing solitaire to co-star in this year’s video for the New Jersey Press Association Legislative Correspondents Dinner.  The dinner took place last night in Hamilton.

Anyone who has read Henry Vaccarro Sr’s book, Johnny Cash is a Friend of Mine, will recognize that Bon Jovi was reprising a role he’s mastered.

Christie Has Lap-Band Surgery

Governor Chris Christie secretly underwent lap-band surgery in February.  He has lost 40 pounds since, according to a report in the New York Post.

Christie told NYP that he underwent the aggressive weight loss procedure because he recently turned 50 and wanted to be around for his kids.  He said it had nothing to do the presidential ambitions.

“I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years,” he said. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”

He also insisted that, contrary to what observers may say, the effort to slim down was not motivated by thoughts of a presidential bid.

“It’s so much more important than that,” he said.

The governor went to great lengths to keep the procedure secret.  He did not go to his surgeon’s office, having the doctor visit him at his Mendam home.  He checked into the surgery center under an assumed name.

The surgery took 40 minutes on the morning of February 16.  Christie was home in the afternoon after having a silicone tube placed around the top of his stomach.

Before having the surgery, Christie spoke privately with Jets coach Rex Ryan.  Ryan had the procedure in 2010 and has lost 100 lbs. since.  Dr. George Fielding of the NYU Medical Center’s Weight Management Program performed the surgery on both men.

Buono: Christie is too focused on Sandy recovery

Buono Dawn Quixote2State Senator Barbara Buono, the presumptive Democratic nominee for governor, told urban residents that Governor Chris Christie is too focused on rebuilding New Jersey after Superstorm Sandy, according to a Star Ledger report.

Christie, she said, had focused too much on rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy, while the cities have been suffering for years under his economic policies.

“There’s a whole other New Jersey that needs to be rebuilt,” Buono told a crowd in Irvington, vowing to reverse many of the Republican governor’s moves.

In a little more than three years in office, Christie’s economic policies are responsible for the condition of our cities?  Christie is not working to improve the quality of life in our cities?

The Democratic Mayor of Camden, Dana Redd, seems to disagree:

Transcript:

Camden Mayor Dana Redd: To our Governor Chris Christie, and you’ve often heard him say this when we’ve stood side-by-side on matters of importance, of education, of Renaissance Schools, public safety and now public education. He’s often talked about, listen, I didn’t get but 28 votes out of Camden but that’s not why I’m doing this.
