The world we live in

MMM broke all previous traffic records today by a large margin and there is still an hour left of the day.

I was shocked when I looked at the stat counter.  I didn’t post much today. What could it be?  The picture of Obama in Ohio?  John Bennett’s bylaws?

No, it was Princess Kate’s boobs.

Thousands of disappointed voyeurs from all over the world came to MMM and ended up reading about the State Department’s news blackout on Libya.

I’m so proud.

Netanyahu: You want these fanatics to have nuclear weapons?

Those who say a nuclear Iran would stabilize the Middle East “have set a new standard for human stupidity.”

In an interview to be aired on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, Israeli Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyanhu likened the government of Iran to the terrorists that have been killing American citizens and destroying American property in 21 Middle Eastern countries this week:

ByLaws: Keep them simple

Monmouth GOP Chairman John O. Bennett III is to be applauded for his endeavors to keep his campaign promises.  In particular, his efforts to codify bylaws, a nagging issue that has stymied several previous chairmen, are worthy of praise.

As we wrote yesterday, we think there are some issues in the bylaws draft.

A windbag is someone who talks too much yet contributes little of value.  Someone who complains yet offers no solutions.  At MMM we’re not windbags.

We have no intention of telling Bennett how to run the party or select candidates.  He should do what he thinks is best in how he structures the party and selects candidates.  If he does well, we’ll praise him.  If he screws up, we’ll be all over him with glee.  Not because we want him to fail, but because the web traffic will go through the roof.  This is a business after all.

It is in the spirit of not being a windbag and in driving traffic to this site, that we offer a solution to the bylaws problem that will let Chairman Bennett run the party and select candidates how he sees fit.  More importantly, our solution will not hamstring future chairs with unintended consequences of the bylaws as proposed.

Keep them simple.

We’re Still with You, Mr. Governor

By Matt Rooney, cross posted from SaveJersey

Governor Chris Christie took his tax fight to a standing-room-only town hall crowd in Brick Township (Ocean County) yesterday afternoon.

And at that Brick gathering, my dear Save Jerseyans, we caught a welcome glimpse of the no-nonsense style of politics that quickly transformed Chris Christie into a national figure; you’ll likely remember his viral warning to beachgoers in the run-up to Hurricane Irene:

Surely, the contrast between Christie and Corzine in Election ’09 couldn’t have been clearer. I was proud to have been one of his earliest and most vocal grassroots supporters. I still am.

But what is our state party’s winning contrast with the liberal legislature right now in this ongoing budget fight?

I’m with MMM‘s Art Gallagher on this one, Save Jerseyans. There is no meaningful contrast.

Shameful, blatant sexism

By Art Gallagher

I am ashamed to have some of you as readers and commenters on this blog.  If the shoe fits, please go away and don’t come back.  I don’t care if you’re one of the many who visit here 20 times per day and drive my traffic up.  You make me sick.

Disrespectfully, the number of children Mr. and Mrs. Hanlon are raising is irrelevent to anybody expect the Hanlons, as far as Christine seeking the office of Monmouth County Republican Chair is concerned.

The blantant sexism exhibited in the comments in the various posts about the chair’s race, especially from women, is shameful.

As the eldest of four children of the first, if not the first, woman to serve as President of a Board of Education in New Jersey, while my father was a council member in our town, I am deeply offended by these comments. That was in the 1960′s and 1970′s.

How will Christine handled it? None of your business. That’s how. Unless the Hanlons want to share that information in order to empower other couples to serve, its none of your frickin business.

Public service, when it is service, is a family endeavor, enterprise and sacrifice.  When it is service, it is a noble calling and a family affair.

The next person, and each and every other, who brings up the Hanlon family, as if it is a detriment to Mrs. Hanlon’s candidacy, is banned from commenting. Forever.

Monmouth Poll: Christie Approval Numbers 51%-35%

By Art Gallagher

Governor Chris Christie’s approval numbers have slipped 5% since February in a Monmouth University/NJ Press Media poll released this morning.

51% of New Jersey residents approve of the governor’s performance compared to 35% who don’t, according to the poll.  Among registered voters, 50% approve of Christie and 38% do not.

In the February Monmouth Poll Christie earned a 52%-38% rating from all NJ residents and 55% to 37% from registered voters.

Today’s Monmouth Poll results are markedly different than the Quinnipiac Poll released last week which indicates that Christie is enjoying his highest approval numbers ever at 59%-36%.

One thing that is consistent between the two polls:  New Jersey residents prefer Senate President Sweeney’s property tax relief plan over Governor Christie’s 10% income tax cut.

I don’t have time this morning to study the two polls to account for the difference and it’s too early to call the pollsters for comment.  Anyone who can account for the difference in the polls before I get to it is welcome to do so in the comments.
