
Hazlet Mayor Scott Aagre and former Senator Joe Kyrillos
Mayor Scott Aagre has decided not to seek a sixth term on the Hazlet Township Committee, GOP Municipal Chairman Gene Kiley confirmed to MMM.
First elected in 2003, Aagre will have spent 15 years on the Hazlet governing body when he leaves office at the end of this year.
“Scott is a great public servant and a good friend to the people of Hazlet,” said Freeholder Sue Kiley, who served with Aagre from 2014 until she was sworn into her current office. “His wisdom and contributions will be missed.”

Three Long Branch Police Officers were injured during a car chase on Monday night, Chief Jason Roebuck announced on facebook.
Two detectives were treated at Monmouth Medical and released. The third officer was held for observation overnight on Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Jennifer and Keith Caneiro
Keith Canerio was shot four times in the head and once in the lower back. Jennifer Caneiro was shot once in the head and stabbed multiple times in her torso. Their children, 11 year old son Jesse and eight year old Sophia were both stabbed to death.
Paul Caneiro allegedly killed his extended family members in an attempt to conceal his theft from them of $78,180, according to documents released by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni this morning.

The Green Leaf Pet Resort in Millstone Township has a litter of 10 Canary Mastiff puppies available for adoption. The Presa Canario pups are the offspring of New York Giant’s wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s dog, Eris, according to a report by Carly Baldwin at Patch.

We need the Marx Brothers today. Well, not the Marx Bros. physically – they’re dead. But their brand of humor: silly enough to be laughable but satirical enough to be thought-provoking. Take their movie, Horse Feathers (1932), for example. Their slapstick antics are woven around a clever indictment of the misplaced priorities given to collegiate athletics. In one famous musical number, “I’m Against It”, Professor Wagstaff (Groucho) asserts that “Whatever it is, I’m against it”. “It” being the absurdities of life.
