Assemblyman Rob Clifton will join Senators Joe Kyrillos and Jennifer Beck, and his Assembly colleagues Mary Pat Angelini, Amy Handlin, and Dave Rible in endorsing GOP State Committeewoman Christine Hanlon as the next Monmouth County GOP Chair.
A formal announcement is expected later today or tomorrow.
Clifton’s endorsement will give Hanlon the formal support of 6 of the 9 member of the Monmouth County Legislative Delegation. Assembly members Sean Kean, Declan O’Scanlon and Caroline Casagrande have yet to express a preference for either Hanlon or her opponent, former Senate President John Bennett.
Distressed that their endorsement of Ron Paul for the GOP presidential nomination was not the effective “political statement to the GOP elite” that they had hoped for, two Monmouth County Tea Party groups are in discussions to support a third party candidate entering the U.S. Senate race between Democratic incumbent Bob Menendez and presumptive GOP nominee Joe Kyrillos, according to a source familiar with meeting between the Bayshore Tea Party Group and the Monmouth County Tea Party Coalition on Tuesday evening.
The Tea Party groups, who have endorsed Badar Qarmout in the GOP primary against Kyrillios, would have to collect 800 valid petition signatures and file the petition with the New Jersey Secretary of State before 4PM on Tuesday, June 5 in order to get their candidate on the general election ballot.
A woman from the Two Rivers area of Monmouth County is said to be the desired candidate of the Tea Party Groups.
Amazon Making Plans to Open Two New Jersey Facilities, Expected to Create Thousands of Jobs, Including 1,500 Permanent Jobs
Trenton, NJ – Joined by company representatives, Governor Chris Christie announced today the beginning of a long-term partnership with global e-commerce leader Amazon.com starting with the company’s plans to begin construction on two state-of-the-art fulfillment distribution center facilities in the state in 2013. Today’s announcement establishes a future partnership committed to growing New Jersey’s economy and creating quality jobs. These distribution facilities are expected to result in at least $130 million in capital investment, along with the expected creation of several thousand quality jobs for our families, including plans for over 1,500 full-time jobs, as well as thousands of full-time temporary, seasonal and construction jobs. The investment commitment is contingent on the receipt of economic development incentives that make such investment economically viable for both the State of New Jersey and the company.
“In yet another positive sign in our state’s economic and job growth, I’m pleased Amazon is committed to helping New Jersey grow and create quality jobs,” said Governor Christie. “After months of hard work and collaboration, Amazon has joined the long list of companies that recognize New Jersey’s economic and business climate is improving. We’ve created an atmosphere of job creation, growth and investment, which is why we have taken another important step toward placing quality, good-paying job opportunities within reach of our families.”
Separately, Governor Christie also announced today that, working together, the Administration and Amazon have reached an agreement that provides certainty with regard to Amazon’s obligation to collect sales tax on purchases by New Jersey consumers. This agreement culminated after months of hard work and cooperation among Amazon staff, the Governor’s Office, the Treasury Department’s Division of Taxation, and legislative staff.
According to the agreement between the New Jersey Division of Taxation and Amazon, the company will voluntarily begin to collect and remit New Jersey sales tax by July 1, 2013, or as of the effective date of federal legislation concerning state sales tax collection from out-of-state retailers, whichever is earlier. This means New Jerseyans will no longer have the required responsibility of tracking and reporting use tax owed on their online purchases from Amazon, and the State will receive the sales tax it is due to fund programs and services for its residents.
The Christie Administration continues to take action on an aggressive, pro-growth agenda to prioritize job creation and economic growth for New Jersey families. Governor Christie secured passage of $2.35 billion in targeted, job-creating business tax cuts beginning in the current budget and has worked to secure New Jersey as the home for business investment and growth from companies of all sizes, including household names like Panasonic, Honeywell, BASF, Church and Dwight, Coca Cola and Bayer.
Since taking office, New Jersey has seen the creation of over 71,000 private sector jobs and experienced the best year of private sector job growth of the last decade in 2011.
Anna’s Little campaign has finally addressed the missing FEC paperwork.
Politickernj reports that a campaign volunteer told them that the paperwork had been filed nine months ago and that a paperwork backlog at the FEC was to blame. A spokesperson for the FEC denied there was a backlog and said that everything filed by Little had been processed by the agency.
Finally, Rob Little, the former mayor’s husband, admitted to Politickernj that the required paperwork for her congressional campaign has not been filed.
A spokesperson for the campaign said the failure to file the required paperwork was an oversight that would be corrected immediately and Rob Little said it would be filed before Tuesday’s primary, according to Politickernj.
Little has the Middlesex GOP endorsement in her primary battle with Ernesto Cullari, the Monmouth County GOP endorsed candidate for the nomination for the 6th congressional district seat in the House of Representatives.
Asked why Little would have terminated her congressional campaign account, “Anna C. Little for Congress Inc.,” with the FEC, which she did on April 2, while maintaining her U.S. Senatorial candidate status through her “Friends of Anna Little” account, Thompson said, “I have no idea.”
Asked why her “Termination Report” would indicate $71 thousand more in receipts than expenditures yet show a zero balance, Thompson said, “I have a hard enough time keeping my own campaign finance reports straight.”
The Bayshore Tea Party Group’s endorsement of Texas Congressman Ron Paul was not enough to turn the tide.
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney rode into Paul’s home state of Texas tonight and rounded up enough delegates to seal the deal.
The Associated Press reports that Romney won big in Texas and surpassed the 1,144 delegates needed to secure the nomination at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this August.
“Terminated” campaign committee report has a $71K discrepancy. Where did that money go?
The primary is one week from today and former Highlands Mayor Anna Little, the Middlesex County GOP candidate for the 6th district GOP congressional nomination, has yet to file as a candidate with the Federal Election Commission.
MMM first reported that Little’s FEC paperwork was not in order on May 7th. Jane Frotton, her former treasurer said she never had anything to do with the FEC reports. Brett Rappaport, the treasurer listed on Little’s web site, has not responded to a request for comment.
Little’s Anna C. Little for Congress Inc. campaign committee was opened for her 2010 race and continued to be active in the 2011-2012 election cycle. A “Termination Report” was filed with Frotton’s electronic signature on April 2, 2012. No other reports, statements of candidacy or statements of organization have been filed by or for Little, despite the fact that she is on the primary ballot and received the Middlesex County GOP endorsement on March 24, 2012.
The Termination Report indicates total contributions from 2010-2012 of $485,364.57 and expenditures of $414,295.70. Despite that $71,068.87 surplus, the report indicates a zero balance in the Little account. Frotton could not explain the difference and Rappaport has not responded.
The majority of Monmouth County’s legislative delagation has signed a letter endorsing State Committeewoman and Ocean Township Municipal Chair Christine Hanlon in her quest to become the next Chair of the Monmouth County Republcian Committee.
Senators Joe Kyrillos and Jennifer Beck were joined by Assembly Members Amy Handlin, Mary Pat Angelini and Dave Rible in signing the letter that was mailed to county committee members and candidates.
We are writing to you today to endorse State Committeewoman and Ocean Municipal Chairwoman Christine Hanlon as the next Chair of the Monmouth County Republican Party and ask you to vote for her on June 12th.
Christine has been an integral part of our recent Republican successes at every level. She has served as the Monmouth Coordinator for both the McCain-Palin presidential campaign and the Christie- Guadagno gubernatorial campaign.
