Brookdale professor drops the F-bomb on his conservative student.

A New Jersey community college is investigating why a professor shouted the F-word at a student in an incident that was caught on camera. The student identifies as politically conservative, and the incident has sparked complaints about the college as a liberal atmosphere where alternative political viewpoints are not tolerated. Coast Guard rescues kite surfer near Sandy Hook, NJ

Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook rescued a kite surfer in distress near Sandy Hook Bay, Sunday.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., watchstanders at Station Sandy Hook received notification of a kite surfer in distress from a good Samaritan ashore.

A Station Sandy Hook boatcrew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat-Small launched and arrived on scene within 15 minutes. The crewmembers safely brought the kite surfer aboard. Read the rest of this entry »

Congressman Smith calls on President Trump to bring abducted children home

Congressman Chris Smith listens to Patricia Apy, a Red Bank attorney, testify about the need for the State Department to step up the enforcement of the Goldman Act

While most of Washington and the media was focused on why you see the ads you see on facebook yesterday, Congressman Chris Smith and his colleagues on the House Subcommittee on Global Human Rights were focused on reuniting kidnapped children with their American parents.

Smith, as chairman of the committee, called on the Trump administration to step up where the Obama administration failed by imposing sanctions on countries that are not enforcing court orders, including from their own courts, for families suffering from international parental child abduction.  Read the rest of this entry »

Congressman Chris Smith, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations, will preside over a hearing this afternoon to provide an update on how well the Goldman Act is being enforced.  The panel will examine inconsistencies in previous annual reports on international child abduction, which are required by the Goldman Act for the State Department to submit to Congress each year by April 30. Even if you don’t like Trump….

I’ve posted this in Monmouth County News because similar actions have happened not just in Washington, but right out of Red Bank and concerns everyone in this County who believes that a free society should remain so.

We are a divided country. We are a polarized country. That polarization is posing one of the most serious internal dangers to our nation and our notions of democracy.

Like every other attorney, I have told my clients that whatever they tell me is absolutely privileged under the doctrine of attorney-client privilege. That doctrine exists in every state. It exists in the federal system. It is close to sacrosanct. There are extremely few exceptions and they require overcoming the highest burdens imaginable to breach. Read the rest of this entry »
