At approximately 10:30 a.m., watchstanders at Station Sandy Hook received notification of a kite surfer in distress from a good Samaritan ashore.
A Station Sandy Hook boatcrew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat-Small launched and arrived on scene within 15 minutes. The crewmembers safely brought the kite surfer aboard.
The kite surfer was wearing a wetsuit and a life jacket. He was brought back to Station Sandy Hook and is reported to have no medical concerns.
The Coast Guard reminds boaters to always wear a life jacket. The number one cause of boating fatalities is drowning, most often by sudden, unexpected entry into the water. Wearing a life jacket increases the chances of surviving a boating accident.
