Gingrich Hopes Gas Prices Will Fuel His Presidential Bid

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is hoping rising gasoline prices can reignite his stalled presidential campaign.

Poltico’s Ginger Gibson (a former Star Ledger statehouse scribe) reports that Gingrich will deliver a speech on energy policy this afternoon to the California GOP state convention.

“It will be our outline for the country — how really big the gap is between the Obama approach to expensive energy and in essence forcing Americans to change their way of life built around what I think is a series of fantasies,” Gingrich told POLITICO in an interview Friday. “And an approach that says we’re going to be energy independent and we ought to have inexpensive energy.”

Gingrich’s speech will be a direct response to President Obama’s energy speech in Florida earlier this week.

Both Gingrich and Bachmann were talking total nonsense when saying they would lower gas prices to $2/$2.50 a gallon.

Gingrich actually said the other night that the Presidnet likes high gas prices. What a dumb thing to say!!! Would have to be a total nit wit to believe Gingrich. Another good reason never to vote for him.

Sorry dude, Milhous–in his own words–not only advocates higher gas prices but also “energy costs will necessarily skyrocket”. The thing about libturds is they always telegraph their intentions for their media stenographers to dutifly spin.
l know it’s hard top see the facts for the liberal bias—but it’s his own words–use facts and logic to thoroughly confuse libturds.

“we can’t drill our way out of this–it will take 3-5 years before we see any change”
B Milhous 2008—-more than 3 years ago. lmagine if we had actually started using the trillions of barrels of oil and cubic yards of nat gas. But in the libturd mind increasing supply doesn’t affect price????

  4. Bob English said at 1:33 pm on February 25th, 2012:

FYI, domestic oil production is up significantely since Obama took office than under GWB and is at a 8 year high. The number of oil rigs in US owned fields has quadroupled under Obama.

There is something called a “world market” that affects the price of crude oil. Also speculation on a war with Iran is driving up the cost along with growing world wide demand. You have to be very naive to think there is much the President of the United States can do to control the world wide price of oil. Even the Saudi’s have limited influence on the world wide price.

  5. brian said at 2:04 pm on February 25th, 2012:

And ALL of the permits were issued prior to the Milhous regime—–drilling on PUBLIC lands, which he controls, is down over 80%.

  6. brian said at 2:08 pm on February 25th, 2012:

All of the permits were issued prior to the Milhous regime—ALL of them. Drilling on PUBLIC land is down over 80%—the lands he controls. When Pres. Bush opened drilling in the Gulf, oil went fron $140bb to below $70 bbl within two weeks—-sorry to cloud the argument with facts……………and when Milhous’s EPA shuts the refinery in South Jersey and our gas prices go up—l guess they have no culpability for their actions…………….

  7. Bob English said at 3:06 pm on February 25th, 2012:

The main point I am trying to make is that even with the increase in drilling, the world price of oil is still going through the roof. Even if US production continues to go up, it is just not going impact the worlds price of oil. Long term the only solution is alternate sources of energy besides oil.

  8. Proud Republican said at 6:25 pm on February 25th, 2012:

Brian is 100% right. Our Muslim president emphatically stated that gas would have to “necessarily skyrocket to $10 per gallon.” What that does is punish the poor sap who has no choice but to drive to work. This liberal energy policy is designed to punish the working stiff for using the only available source of energy. Until these liberal morons come up with a cheap alternative, we need oil and we need it now. More oil, means more supply, means lower prices. Economics 101.

Also, PR..you’re still a reprehensible person for continuing to claim the President is Muslim. He has professed his Christian faith and to keep lying about that makes you less than a Christian person. Hope you will follow Santorum since you both will be going to hell in the afterlife…for lying, if nothing else. Brian is just a racist and a liar of the first degree, so no sense trying to respond to that.

    Now, Bob…

The President has indeed implied he was for higher gas prices, most likely to force people into electric and smaller cars.

    As well

    http://reason.com/archives/2012/02/22/arent-high-gas-prices-what-democrats-wan

While you are correct Bob about the “world market” driving up demand and prices. Speaker Gingrich is talking about releasing the HUGE availability of fossil fuels that we already know about. Look what’s happening the Dakotas. Huge amounts of oil PLUS virtually full employment. They are actually looking for more people to fill jobs for which people are not qualified.

IMAGINE UNLEASHING THAT ON A GRAND SCALE…

Creating a huge supply and a huge chain of job creation.

Imagine 1 million more barrels of oil coming in from the Canadian Tar Sands, via the Keystone Pipeline right to Galveston and being refined HERE in America for use here, rather than it being shipped to China.

Increasing Supply HAS ALWAYS Decreased Price. And, To Back This Up; We In New Jersey Spoke With An Executive At A Major Oil Company Who Feels That While The Oil Company Would See Lower Prices, It Would Increase The Supply

Nitwit Bob? We Don’t Think So.

Tossing Around Pejoratives Is NOT Going To Help Our Energy & National Security Problem Because Of Energy, NOR Will The Meager Sales Of Electric Volts By Government Motors.

    Think Bold, Bob

  12. Proud Republican said at 10:41 am on February 26th, 2012:

Sorry Rick, wrong as usual. Obama’s father was a Muslim. that makes him a Muslim. Also, he makes numerous references to his days in Indonesia in class learning the Koran – even being scolded once for misbehaving. Then there was the ABC interview where he spoke about “my Muslim faith” only to have the sniveling little liberal George Stephanapoulous remind him of the script by saying, “you mean your Christian faith.” I know the truth hurts about your hero, what with the beheadings, honor killings, stoning of women and all (not to mention the impending execution of the Christian pastor in Iran), but hey, your guy is simply a product of his upbringing. Now I have to go – don’t want to be late for Mass.

“Proud,” you’re right.. I believe Newt is the ONLY person with several cogent, intelligent, timely, and absolutely necessary PLANS, right now, as to what he would DO, from the moment he was inagurated.. if people would get past being pushed into the negative character assassination, and LISTEN to the ideas, they would see that this is the last time we have, to step up and make tough choices, and make strong decisions, not wimpy, lofty, feel-good statements, and NO more giveaways we can’t sustain!.: really, when I hear Rick, Ron and especially Mitt, launch into their soundbites of “we’re gonna put Americans back to work”, and “create jobs,” with no specifics, I want to scream: it’s the tax structure, the over-burdening, anti-business reg’s, and the inability business has to compete in today’s world, that are killing all chance of any recovery/independence, that HAS to change..the usual platitudes and stump-statements and promises will not work this year- we are in too desperate a situation.. Newt’s the only one with the gumption and smarts to actually DO it!.. we have to turn this around, if it isn’t already too late..

Sorry Proud Repub- the Jews have it right when it comes to religion and parentage. The one thing they know for sure is who the mother is – the father is another matter. That’s why if you have a Jewish mother, you are considered Jewish. Add to that that Obama was raised for the most part by his mother and rarely saw his father and your argument falls into the scrap heap of history where it belongs.

  16. Proud Republican said at 2:33 pm on February 26th, 2012:

KT – I’ll say it reeeeeeaaaalllll ssssssllllllloooooowwwww for you. Obama is a Muslim, not a Jew. Sorry for all the big words. And for the record, Obama’s sire is held in high esteem by his son and had a profound influence on his anti-American, anti-western views. Remember his book title, “Dreams From My Father?” Well, the destruction of America was one of those dreams.

I’ll say it real slow for you Proud Repub- you AAALLLWWWAAYYSS know who the mother is. You don’t have to BE Jewish to understand the concept, but in your case, I guess it might help.

Just catching up on life, but NOT sure how this got to religion.

Also, Bob; I see you have been seriously refuted on the Obama administration’s stance on fuel prices.

Care to comment on that? 🙂

  21. Bob English said at 8:00 am on February 27th, 2012:

Free…Without being repititious…1) The price of oil is set by the world-wide market. 2) The United States is now a net exporter of oil products. 3) If for arguement sake some areas which in the entire history of the United States that were off limits for drilling are now opened up, that oil is still sold at world market price. Could it make a little bit of impact on the market price…its possible but as mentioned the market price as skyrocket at the same time as US production has risen substantially in the last few years. 4) US oil production is about 7.8 million barrels/day which is about 9% of the worlds daily production. The total amount of oil produced daily in the world is roughly 88 million barrels/day. 5) Hopefully the sanctions being imposed agaisnt Iran will prevent a full scale war in the Middle East since that will drive prices through the roof. Conversely a peacefull settlement of their nuclear issue would probably casue a huge decline in prices.

  22. And You Set Your Own Trap Bob said at 5:33 pm on February 27th, 2012:

The idea is to VASTLY increase the amount of oil production…supply will lower prices.

There is so much oil available that as of my understanding, the Canadian Oil Sands via the Keystone Pipe Line will produce 1 million barrels per day, a TEN PERCENT INCREASE…

Add in the tremendous amount of oil coming on line from North Dakota, off shore leases and drilling elsewhere, you can dramatically increase the supply of oil.

BTW, Freespeaker asked you to comment about you being wrong on your comments comments about the Obama administration NOT wanting higher fuel prices.

Don’t you think you owe us a retraction of those comments?

  24. Bob English said at 6:25 pm on February 27th, 2012:

And…consider that the higher the price of oil, the worse it is for the economy and the less likely the President would be reelected, so its kind of hard to fathem that he would want higher gas prices. Note that if you did get 1 million barrells/day from the Keystone pipeline, that would be an increase in the worlds daily production of oil of about 1%. By the way I am all for building it if they can resolve the environmental issues but another 1% added to the worlds daily production of oil is next to nothing in terms of impact on prices especially since demand is going to be constantly growing.

You also ignored the North Dakota oil supply and the vast supply of oil in other areas.

Again, ignore the facts in order to make your case but we see thru you and the lib arguments.

  27. Bob English said at 10:32 pm on February 28th, 2012:

Not ignoring anything..they are drilling in North Dakota and will continue to do so even though there are starting to have some quality of life issues for residents. Still is not going to have much of an impact on the world wide price of oil.
