Pallone Turns His Back On America
By Susan Christopher, Asbury Park
Congress leaves Washington without voting to extend the Bush tax cuts. Who was responsible for casting the deciding vote, none other than Congressman of CD6, Frank Pallone, who by the way mimicked Nancy Pelosi’s vote once again!
With our economy being in the fragile state it’s in, this is the worst possible news for America. What this means for us is this, the two major tax-cutting bills, the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 will be phased out come December 31st. According to Forbes Magazine, these two laws cut taxes across the board for earned income, long-term capital gains and dividends. The law also expands the child tax credit, eliminates the “marriage penalty” by giving couples filing jointly twice the deduction, and many taxpayers will lose as much as 80% of their itemized deductions depending on their income. Democrats like Frank Pallone would like us to believe that only the top two brackets will face higher taxes should the Bush cuts laps, but this couldn’t be further from the truth! The reality is, rates will go up for everyone including the lower and middle class, bringing greater havoc to our economy. This is Frank Pallone’s agenda and it proves he is dangerous for America.
In a September 30th article titled, Little: Pallone Cast Deciding Vote To Adjourn, Before Acting To Prevent Massive Tax Hike, Republican Congressional challenger Anna Little, sharply criticized her opponent, Frank Pallone. She states, “Today Frank Pallone showed why it’s time for him to leave Congress. With an economy in the ruts, his deciding vote will lead to continued uncertainty about the nation’s job creators, and will make job creation that much more difficult in the weeks and months to come.”
It is time for Americans to take a stand! The voters of Congressional District 6 should ask themselves; do we want more of Frank Pallone’s economic progressive agenda or do we want a candidate who knows fiscal responsibility and truly cares about Americans? On November 2nd we must get out the vote for Anna Little. The only way to rid ourselves of the existing scourge is to vote them out of office! This is the power granted all Americans by the Constitution. Unlike the Healthcare Bill, it is a relatively short document but it speaks volumes. This is the wonderful, democratic process we live by, WE THE PEOPLE…
God Bless America!
Thank you Susan Christopher. You have hit the nail on the head by pointing out this unconscionable act by voting to adjourn Congress and allow tax increases to take place on January 1, 2011. This action by Pallone demonstrates in a most hurtful way that he is just unwilling to take actions necessary to help the people who are suffering the most in this down economy. And for those people who are unemployed, it will mean that they will remain unemployed for an even longer period of time. This single action by Pallone is more than sufficient justification to vote him out of office on Nov. 2nd.
HUBRIS AND CALLOUSNESS:
Whether you are a Republican, an Independent or a Democrat, if you are elected by The People you must represent The People. Ours is a representative Democracy, and in such a system our elected representatives MUST be alert and sensitive to the pulse of the nation.
Things have changed with the new breed of Democrats in Washington, especially since the election of President Barack Obama. Democrats have ceased to care for US the People.
Democrats like Pallone are Professional Politicians: they are there to vote in unison for the Party line disregarding the will of The People, and –as we say in ObamaCare- even against the will of The People.
We should never forget how ObamaCare came to pass. We must never forget that the Democrats in Washington knew 60 to 70% of the people (all all walks of life) were against that Bill. We must never forget that even the people of Massachusetts (one of the bluest of States) sent a shout to Washington with the election of Scott Brown to the Kennedy seat…with a mandate to ‘Kill the Bill’.
Instead of listening to Us, Pallone and his ‘compinches’ voted to implement their Party’s agenda. They were obedient servants of the Elite and voted for a Bill they did not read.
The passing of ObamaCare showed the World –and America- what is wrong with Washington: the system is saturated with men and women like Pallone, way far gone in hubris and callousness , who believe the solution to all is Taxes and Big Government.
We need to replace these people with men and women like Anna Little. With people who are committed to follow the Constitution, to limit the size of Government and to reduce our Taxes.
Susan: thank you for pointing out the depth and breadth to which the soon-to-expire tax cuts will affect EVERYONE.
Those fond of punishing the rich (neither group to which I belong) don’t understand that they, too, will be affected by the change.
Shame, shame, shame on arrogant, disaffected Frank Pallone. Can’t wait until we have a genuine representative. This former Dem will be voting–with bells on!–for Ann Little!
Ms. Christopher accurately describes the complete lack of courage of convictions in the absence of a vote on both the soon to expire “Bush Tax Cuts” and other funding legislation. This is probably one of the first illustrations of transparency in this legislative session.
Every voter in this Country should look closely at their representative and ask themselves if they truly are representing their constituents. Frank Pallone is certainly not, Rush Holt is not, nor are so many others. It is time for all of them to go.
“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” Abraham Lincoln
This quote about sums it up for me – whether we are talking about the Township of Neptune where the weight of the apparent one party system has caused our taxes to skyrocket; or our congressional representative who gave us Pallonecare whether we liked it or not; our Senators who look the other way while our freedoms are taken away; or the White House where all of this flows down from. I am voting for Warren Lapp in the township and Anna Little for US Congress to get the “Hope and Change” started that our country so desperately needs.
