Back the Blue Gear Sales Support Police K-9s and Explorers
The Kratz family of Middletown, Kimberly, Willis and their sons Jack and Luke are expressing their support of local law enforcement by raising funds through the sale of Back The Blue gear.
$5 from every sale of a Back The Blue shirt, hoodie, facemask gaiter, fleece jogger or backpack goes to support the Middletown Police Department’s K-9 Unit or the Police Explorers.
The project has raised $7,410 since it was an inspired Passion Project of Luke’s when he was a student at Bayshore Middle School in 2016 as a show of support to law enforcement officers in the aftermath of the Dallas shooting that killed five police officers.
The project inspired Luke and his younger taller brother Jack, now students at Middletown North High School, to become Police Explorers. The family has kept launched the project, which sells gear for only two weeks, every year since.
This year’s sale started on Friday, August 7 and closes on August 21. Purchase gear is to be delivered during the week of September 14.
Sales are processed and fulfilled by DestinationAthlete.com, a Lebanon, NJ company that seeks to build communities through supporting students athletes.
More important than the money for K-9s and Explorers is the morale boost for law enforcement officers when they see the gear worn in the community.
