County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, Esq. Sworn In as President of the Monmouth Bar Association

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon was sworn in as President of the Monmouth County Bar Association on Thursday in a socially distanced ceremony presided over by Assignment Judge Lisa P. Thornton outside the County Courthouse.

“It is my great honor to be inducted as president of the Monmouth Bar Association and I thank my colleagues for having the faith and confidence in me to serve in this position,” said Clerk Hanlon. “I am truly humbled to lead this illustrious organization and look forward to working with the executive board and members to continue the great work of the Monmouth Bar Association.”

Founded in 1908, the Monmouth Bar Association is the professional association of over 1,300 lawyers in Monmouth County whose purpose is to promote the administration of justice and uniformity of law, uphold the honor of the profession of the law, and to advance the welfare and service of the members of the organization.

“The mission of the Monmouth Bar Association is as important today as it was 112 years ago, as we are faced with this unprecedented and difficult health crisis that has impacted the way we live, work, and interact,” said Clerk Hanlon. “In times of crisis in our nation, lawyers have always been there to provide leadership and guidance, to steady the course, and to address the needs of our fellow citizens. I am thankful for the opportunity to lead the Monmouth Bar Association during this time in our history and I will work hard to support our members.”

Hanlon was elected as Monmouth County Clerk in November 2015. Prior to her election, she was Of Counsel to the law firm of Archer & Greiner, PC. Hanlon practiced law for over 20 years and focused her legal practice, most recently, on government affairs and municipal law. She served as a municipal prosecutor in Atlantic Highlands and was a Commissioner on the Monmouth County Board of Elections. She also served as an Arbitrator for the State of New Jersey District Fee Arbitration Committee.

Hanlon received her law degree from Fordham University in 1992, following her graduation from Barnard College, Columbia University. After graduation from law school, she was Law Clerk to the Honorable A. Simon Chrein, Chief United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York and then served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York, before moving to New Jersey. Hanlon currently also serves as Vice President for the Monmouth County SPCA, Secretary for the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ), and is a Trustee for the Monmouth County Bar Foundation and Boy Scouts of America, Monmouth Council.
