Gorsuch v the type of judge that would wear a pussy hat when presiding over the courtroom …
It seems ridiculous, but if you think about it, this is what we are being asked to choose between. Partisan progressives who refuse to tolerate any ideas outside their own, who can’t even articulate what they believe in any cohesive, consistent manner and riot and commit violent acts at the drop of a … well, hat.
Or, people who have thought deeply and at length about what they believe and advocate, who are aware of not only historical context but also present day reality, who have listened to the opposition and tried to find the wheat among the chaff and address those issues with real solutions rather than mere lip service, who have respect for themselves, the core responsibilities of their office, and are committed to doing what they think is right for all of us in the long term, even if it means the pussy hats will have a temper tantrum and will drag them through the mud, calling them the most offensive of names.
Every single nominee Trump has put forward has said essentially the same thing: I want to work with you to identify and address real problems. I recognize the constitutional responsibilities of your job and mine. My ultimate goal is to ensure that whatever solutions we come up with actually deliver on the promises we make to the American people.
Every one of them should be approved. If they don’t do the job and deliver on promises made to us, I have no doubt that Trump will fire them and replace them with someone who will. Call his twitter antics and media persona ridiculous, inflammatory and undignified, and I will agree wholeheartedly. But we live in ridiculous, inflammatory times and dignity left the building long ago. In the media arena, Trump fights fire with fire. It’s ugly. But it is effective in ways civility has not been.
Privately he is the consummate chief executive, exercising long and well honed skills acquired over a lifetime of negotiating deals and getting things done on the world stage. He is not an ideologue – he’s been on many sides of issues over the course of his adult life – he is not even particularly partisan – he’s been a D more than he’s been R.
His only guiding principles – America is great, it’s founding principles, abundant natural resources and our human resources made us great, and he is committed to fulfilling his promises to us and actually delivering as far as humanly possible on the promise of our founding. And so far he is keeping every promise.
And we’re upset about that? We actually have political pundits and politicians complaining about our President’s focus on doing what he said he’d do and keeping promises? What they are telling us with those statements is that they lie when they make promises and have no intention of keeping them. They are telling us outright that they are elitist bullies who have no intention of considering the concerns of anyone who doesn’t promote every aspect of their agenda AND simultaneously that they will ignore, ridicule and demonize anyone who doesn’t wear their team jersey, irregardless of their color, gender, sexual orientation, religion or cultural origins – if you don’t wear a D, you are evil. The fact is that on most issues they have acknowledged the same problems and advocated the same or similar solutions they now, purely for the sake of preserving political division, ignore, ridicule and demonize. They are telling us in no uncertain terms that their core mission is to preserve their own power and that they will divide us and lie to us in order to win.
So you disagree with Trump on policy – if you aren’t an ass about it, Trump will listen to your concerns and proposals, he’s probably agreed with you at one point or another. And, if it doesn’t violate his core mission to deliver on America’s greatness, he’ll incorporate your ideas – because that is how a smart, savvy CEO operates – he formulates a broad vision, defines the mission, surrounds himself with excellence, gathers information, considers all contingencies, devises a plan and executes it – and that is exactly who and what Trump is.
And you are going to destroy property, scream vile insults, put lives at risk, thwart him at every turn, over this?
We have an incredible opportunity here and you are going to blow it over inflammatory headlines put forth by a media whose agenda is not only admittedly partisan but whose core mission is to create controversy in order to line their own pockets?
Imagine, an Executive branch that actually executes, a Judicial branch that actually adjudicates, and a Legislative branch that actually legislates, not according to partisan agendas but to ensure the safety, liberty and prosperity of all of the American people.
This is within our grasp if we wake up, get our heads out of our collective rectums and individual genitalia, stop acting offended at the drop of a hat, stop presuming motives and ignoring reality to incite tensions and create artificial dissent, work together and actually do our part to govern ourselves.
Where was this call for unity under Obama? How did the approval of Merrick Garland go? Why does this admittedly partisan site get to call out the rest of the media for not towing Trumps line? The Republicans won the election but they did not win the high road- that was burned down years ago. The outrage culture that this very site looks to perpetuate, that has been a staple of the right, that is now burning anarchy through the left, will continue until the party in power decides to help all Americans. In some ways, I agree with the sentiments of this article- but do not wear the smugness that the Democrats clothed themselves in pre-election, the only thing that looks worse than that is a pussy hat.
Ms Bennett’s piece truelly expresses today’s polital environment in simple and precise language. In her second sentence she is so correct about “Partisan Progressives” refusing (incapable) to tolerate any ideas outside their own.
The Partisan Progressive insists on ignoring ignor
