Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr is hard at work for the people of Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

The 28 year incumbent and ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee along with two other Democrat members of the committee wrote to the president of Niantic, Inc, the developer of the Pokémon Go app, earlier this week inquiring into what the company is doing to ensure that users of the game do not wander outside their home wireless network and incur unexpected data charges on their cell phone bills.

The Oddish congressman wants to know if Niantic follows best practices that minimize the data that players use; if they’re working with wireless carriers to ensure that consumers are not hit with large data charges; if their is a conspicuous warning to consumers about how much data the app uses; if Nicantic has mechanism in place to reimburse consumers who are hit with unexpected data charges.

Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, the Republican looking to send Pallone home after twenty-eight years in Washington said on facebook, “Frank Pallone is working on finding out how much cell phone data usage Pokeman Go is generating. I’m working on getting Sandy victims back into their homes, getting New Jersey residents back to work with good paying jobs, and getting the government off the backs of small business owners. I’m working on sending Frank Pallone home.”
