Golden Not Running Against Pallone
Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden told MMM that he will not be a candidate for Congress this year.
Monmouth County Republican Chairman John Bennett has been urging Golden to take on Congressman Frank Pallone due to the sheriff’s strong record of accomplishment and his popularity at the polls.
“I would love to see Shaun Golden run for Congress, ” Bennett said earlier this month, ‘Not only is he popular and a demonstrated vote getter, he has an outstanding record with a documented ability to get things done.”
Golden said that it is just not the right time for him to take on a congressional campaign.
Former Howell Mayor Joe DiBella said last week that he “would love to run against Pallone” if Golden doesn’t. Bennett told MMM that he received a message from DiBella expressing his interest. DiBella has not returned several phone calls inquiring about his candidacy from MMM this week.
Former Freeholder and former Highlands Mayor Anna Little, the GOP nominee in CD-6 in 2010 and 2012 told MMM that she never planned to run against Pallone this year. Yet, Little filed a Statement of Organization with the Federal Elections Commission in October of last year.
Atlantic Highlands Councilman Peter Doyle recently raised his profile in the Monmouth GOP by sending a letter to county committee members announcing his desire to hold higher office in the future but endorsing Republican incumbent Freeholders Lillian Burry and Gary Rich for re-nomination. Doyle said he has not given a congressional race any consideration.
Middlesex County GOP Chairman Sam Thompson said he’s had conversations with a potential candidate backed by a national Asian-American political group, but that he was not ready to release a name.
The sixth congressional district is comprised of Aberdeen Township, Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, Deal, Hazlet Township, Highlands, Interlaken, Keansburg, Keyport, Loch Arbour, Long Branch, Marlboro Township, Matawan, Middletown Township (part; also 4th), Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Sea Bright, Union Beach, West Long Branch in Monmouth County and Carteret, Edison, Highland Park, Metuchen, New Brunswick, Old Bridge Township (part; also 12th), Perth Amboy, Piscataway Township, Sayreville, South Amboy, South Plainfield, Woodbridge Township in Middlesex County.
Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans in the district by 138,852 – 52,276. There are 189,608 Independent or Third Party voters registered in the district.
March 8 is the deadline for candidates to submit a letter of intent to Bennett, per the Monmouth GOP by-laws. Thompson said that candidates to submit a letter to him prior his screening committee meeting on March 14. Both the Monmouth and Middlesex GOPs will hold their nominating conventions on Saturday, March 22.

All the “top- tiers” are once again gonna be real busy doing other things, and slimey Frankie’ll get another free pass, to continue clobbering the few working taxpayers left..
Dibella will run. I just know it!
I’m not losing sleep over Golden or DiBella. I want a real Conservative with a solid Conservative track record who is Constitutionally Certified and Tea Party Approved. That leaves me with either Leigh Ann Bellew or Rich Pezzullo, if he can be persuaded to drop his Senate race and run for Congress instead.
Oh yes because these type candidates have a GREAT shot to win. Really? They’ll go over real well in New Brunswick and Edison. Get a grip TP people. You can win in South Carolina but not in NJ. Wake up or continue to be a minority party in NJ. Just sad.
is hornick going on the im not running for congress tours? like he did with the im not running for governor tour. he cann’t run a small town like marlboro, how can he run a state?
How does one become “Constitutionally Certified”? Is there an online course someone needs to take or can you get a shot like for the flu?
And why should the Republican candidate need the approval of the Tea Party? The Tea Party is another political party. Run your own candidate not in the primary but in the general if you had any guts.
it is very humorous to hear about certified constitution scholars that never read (or they ignore) Article VI of the US Constitution.
a) Leigh Ann Bellew tried running for Congress years ago. She lost big time.
Why? Because she is a hot mess as far as a candidate, ranting and raving; crying in a porta potti because she couldn’t take union pushback. Couldn’t raise money. And big time homophobes do not sell well in the 6th Congressional district.
a) Leigh Ann Bellew was blown out in the primary last year. Couldn’t raise support and couldn’t raise money.
Those are the facts about Bellew.
Any now, you want to run her again? You ARE delusional, aren’t you?
While Tim’s comments above about Dibella were off the mark, his follow up comments to you nails it.
And yes BULL puppy, how does one become “constitutionally certified?” A quick search of the internet produced nothing to help me become such.
Or, is this stuff all in your heads?

What the hell is your obsession with Hornik?
” What the hell is your obsession with Hornik?”
Maybe the answer should be “Hornik himself: being the problem.
Get with it. The topic is: “Golden Not Running Against Pallone.”
When the time comes that there are Hornik sightings for what ever office, I am sure Art will post them, and you can post the usual useless dribble.
Boy, what a sour puss you are. You should know that most posts go way off line here on MMM.
Get over it.
@@@@@ trouble. the problem with hornick is thqat the is bankrupting the town, of marlboro. he is always self promoting himself for every office going. why weould you go on a tour of new jersey to say that you are not running for governor? who cares? he is so self absorbed, and thinks the the next kennedy. im just letting everyone know what a waste he is and a problem to the county of monmouth. he has spent over 25 million dollars more then he took in in marlboro, and just borrowed another 20,000,000 last town council meeting. so i will continue to let anyone and everyone know.
