Bayshore Tea Party Blames Steve Lonegan For Primary Loss. Won’t Support Him For U.S. Senate

Bayshore Tea Party Group co-founder Barbara Gonzalez blames her candidates’ landslide defeat in the GOP primary on Steve Lonegan.
In a post on faceback early Wednesday morning Gonzalez said that Lonegan, the former Bogota Mayor, former gubernatorial candidate and former Executive Director of Americans for Prosperity-NJ, promised financial support to Leigh-Ann Bellew and her team, only to renege.
“Steve Lonegan turned his back on Bayshore’s candidates after promising to help. He left us in the lurch and reneged….think about that before you get his petitions signed. Another blowhard. We would have won if we had the money/donations that he promised would come. We went on and did it ourselves and got 20% with NO money.! He can forget about our support!”
Wednesday afternoon Gonzalez wrote,
“Lonegan could have had some hard ass worker bees if he didn’t screw
Bayshore TPG. Oh well.”
Lonegan is so far the only Republican candidate of note to announce an intention to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in the Special Primary on August 13.

Holy cow! What a wacko! Blame everyone but yourself!
This is straight out of Bizzaro World. Does this woman ever stop to think that it was HER fault?
Leaders accept responsibility. Barbara Gonzalez runs from it.
The loss is because they were lousy candidates, poorly vetted and unable to raise money on their own. Candidates are supposed to spend 60% of their time raising money and from that, they make the connection with other pools of support.
No money connections, no support.
That aside, NO amount of money would have won your race because your candidates were lousy Barbara and you are a lousy leader.
Not that many voters are gullible enough to believe you and your candidate’s lies about good, decent and qualified candidates. They saw thru the charade.
You can’t depend on charity from the Democrats or Lonegan to run your own campaign.
But then, you aren’t Conservatives if you look for a handout from others.
So Barbara, the word in a nutshell is that your support is worthless, more like political poison.
I guess they will have to settle for Joe Rullo to run and lose with; and maybe that will finally kill off the Rullobots

Actually her claim is true. He called the group months ago and said “if you put together the candidates and I’ll help”. The group, as soon as they brought it all to together, he backed out without even giving a reason.
Say what you want think what you want. But remember, this election was 5 cents to every dollar that was spent by the incumbents. Remember that as a tea party group there isn’t a lot of money. But remember this also. This isn’t the last election, so you can expect more competition in the future. To much is at stake not to continue on. It’s a pity that so many that visit this blog, that you would celebrate your eventual defeat. Match right into the hands of socialism. Because you’ve helped them further their cause, not yours.

Blame who you want Barbara truth is lee Ann was is and will always be a candidate that is not qualified to even be a candidate let alone an elected official. I have sat on the side of the political game for a few years now. After this last election and the lies that your group has spread I can not sit by any longer. Thanks for reinvigorating my desire to get involved at least you accomplished one good thing
So get over yourself Political Pony. Your egos are so vastly overinflated that you don’t understand reality any more. You have no capacity to attract quality candidates after so many losses.
Better that new people build from the ashes, people that don’t lie and hold on to power for power’s sake. You guys are poster children for what NOT to do as a Tea Party.
Now, to tutor you…
Lonegan walked away because like any good political operation or PAC, they don’t invest in failures. They don’t invest in poorly vetted candidates. Steve is smart enough to know that.
And THAT problem of poor candidates falls on the shoulders of the BSTPG.
It’s no difference than investors looking at a business. They want a return on their money and if they don’t see the potential for profitability, the walk away.
Candidates start raising money MONTHS or years ahead of a race they plan on entering. That’s what the big boys do.
THIS is what Lonegan was looking for. It’s the same on the national level. PACs look to see if you have raised some level of funding BEFORE they throw money your way. Bellew would know this because she was told the same thing in 2006.
MONEY in the till and how much of it shows how big your base of support is to the PACs.
But to have entered this race with nothing but personal loans to the campaign shows how foolish the candidates were, adding to the fact that they were incompetent.
Bellew never raised serious money in 2006 and this proved she can’t raise money.
So, please spare us yours and Barbara’s “cry me a river.” We don’t have time for it.

In fairness, justice and equity the GOP nominee for US Senate needs to be the runner-up in last year’s primary, Bader Qarmout. Joe Kyrillos had his shot and was rejected by voters because he is a babykilling liberal RINO. It’s now Bader’s turn and he will lead the Tea Parties to victory in the October election.
Lonegan supposedly offered support to more than one challenger and support was understood by more than one candidate. That being said it is not clear why Lonegan would do such a thing, as his organization has tax-exempt status and can’t endorse candidates. It makes no sense.
What Gov. Christie should do now is appoint an elected Republican from the state legislature and hold the US Senate election in November with the others.

So the BSTP is not endorsing Steve. How was Barbara able to pull a meeting of the organization together so quickly after Steve announced he was running and issue a statement of non support? Oh wait I forgot Babara make unilaterial decisions on behalf of the group that she says she is not the leader of.

Stop making excuses. the money had nothing to do with it and Lonegan would not have impacted the outcome. This was a LANDSLIDE. It was the type of political victory that not only said that the victors were truly the choice of the electorate, but it clearly stated that the outcome was inevitable. you’re arguments during the campaign were bad enough, but now you just look pathetic. Save your excuses and go some war far away with Babs.

Silence Dogood, Redux
Now that the election is over and the victors have taken their victory lap it is time to get back to considering what is going on in this country and what really needs to be done to stave off disaster. Here in Monmouth County there are many, many issues both local and national that must be addressed and soon if we are to survive as a free nation.
That being said, what the TP is trying to raise as a concern that all should perhaps consider is not as crazy as some would have you think. It is very easy to follow what the mainstream media says and take it as gospel however I can assure you that generally speaking is not the case.
Wanting smaller, accountable and less intrusive government (especially in light of the breaking NSA, IRS, DOJ, EPA and other scandals yet to be made public) is really what the message is supposed to be, it is even more important than throwing rocks at one another whereas only the enemies of liberty benefit.
As with most elections, things are said in the heat of battle that are neither fully accurate nor fair. There are also claims made that as with any untruth or halftruth become magnified therefore less and less manageable ultimately ending badly for the one who embellishes. Unfortunately, there is also the temptation to use rhetoric that is designed to diminish an opponent or to build up the credentials of oneself, again to the detriment of the electorate. Strip away that aspect of a campaign and look objectively at what the problems that should be addressed are including those our country is facing and you will hopefully be left with what the debate should be focused on.
Over the years the criteria that many elected legislators have used to view themselves centers on how many laws they get their names attached to (who cares if the law is good or bad?). This is obviously a major problem if you look carefully at the laws themselves and see whose names are associated with them. The mark of a statesman or woman is their willingness to buck the popular trend in the governing bodies and resist the “status quo” of party politics. Because of the status quo, every time there is a perceived problem, someone has to jump in and in the best “Populist” mold, throw bad legislation out and jump in front of the first camera. Why, so that they can convince their constituents that they are “earning” their keep or, that they are trying to climb to the next rung on the ladder of leadership. the higher we wish to go, the more go-along to get-along we become. this is another form of selling out the electorate. Perhaps it is human nature to just add another bad bill to the thousands of bad bills already sitting on the books.
I believe that what groups like the TP represent (perhaps sometimes naively) is the desire that we try to get away from that old fashioned way of doing business. Why not take the opposite tack and try to get rid of the bad laws so that freedom can make a small but significant comeback? We all benefit from that mindset ultimately.
This primary, albeit hastily put together based upon promises and yes, Steve did promise access to some form of financial support that would come from somewhere however not directly from his organization because of legal constraints (IRS scandal anyone???). He also did say specifically that the candidates must put a heavy emphasis on raising funds on their own merits as well because outside supporting groups would look at that aspect very closely before sending more funds. I believe that famous saying by Ronald Reagan is very appropriate; “Trust but verify”. In this case, the trust was in place and work started without the necessary support. Don’t spend any money promised until it is in hand is probably a good rule of thumb going forward. Go out and raise funds is something that has been said to every person ever running for office. You must fund raise in order to be successful. I believe that many people believe that running on passion alone will be enough. Rarely does that work unfortunately.
To recap, the support issue was offered and accepted at face value with perhaps too little attention being paid to the underlying message that Steve provided.
In fairness to Barbara, the one thing that Steve did do was to apply a lot of pressure about getting a ticket together ASAP (if a ticket was to be assembled, this definitely was not the way to do it for obvious reasons) and with such a short trigger to boot. Finding viable candidates in such a short time is a difficult task. There was also not enough time to fully digest all of the intricacies involved with such an undertaking let alone do it effectively. Again, in Barbara’s defense this becomes a classic example of errors of commission as opposed to errors of omission and passion ruled.
One thing that should be kept in mind is that the fallout from this primary must be put behind us because the elections over the next couple of years will have significant impacts on all of our lives. We no longer have the luxury of being able to sit back and think that the system will heal itself after each election as it sort of has in the past. We are and make no mistake about it, in the 11th hour and soon there will be no turning back from the damage that has been done over the past 30 or 40 years with the grand culmination being at the hands of the Obama administration. 1984 is upon us, make no mistake about it.
As with most things, timing is everything. This was probably not the best time nor the best of reasons for storming the Bastille so to speak. As for the cries of such a lopsided victory, my suggestion is to not read too much into the numbers however perhaps it is a good time to rather reflect on the massive issues facing us as a nation, a state and a county over the next several years of. The damage must be stopped first then undone wherever and whenever possible. The progressive agenda is almost unstoppable at this point so fighting among ourselves becomes self-defeating. Let’s stop the name calling now and look at what we must do in the future.
If you are a legislator, now is the time to self reflect and honestly convince yourselves as to how effective you have been as an elected official. The voting records are there for all to see. Weigh your self assessment against the underpinnings of this great nation conceived in liberty with the promise of such a bright future, and ask yourself, am I a part of the solution or am I a part of the problem. This is also a question that each and everyone of us should ask ourselves being that it is pertinent and critical to making the right decisions at every level, both as voters as well as legislators.
Cicero said it best; “A nation deserves its leaders”, what say you?
