Bellew’s Credentials, Conservatism Questioned
In 2010 I was a manager in Anna Little’s campaign for Congress. I worked with Leigh Ann Bellew, who was the campaign’s initial manager and then became the campaign’s Chairman. I am a conservative Republican who has been active with the Tea Party.
During that campaign Leigh Ann Bellew led me, as well as and all the rest of us who were working on Anna Little’s campaign, to believe that she was “a lawyer who didn’t practice”. We also got the impression from what she told us that she had studied law and had a degree of some kind in Constitutional studies. None of this has turned out to be true.
Leigh Ann Bellew also misled us about her involvement with national conservatives like Dick Morris, telling us that she had been his “communications director”. This isn’t true either.
I wasn’t aware of her answers to a Project Vote Smart (http://votesmart.org/candidate/political-courage-test/59968/leigh-ann-bellew/#.UYeWJXzD-M8) questionnaire in 2006, none of us were, but have had the opportunity to read it since. I am concerned by a number of her answers and most concerned by her answers to the questions on the 2nd Amendment and Abortion.
On the 2nd Amendment, if Leigh Ann is a “constitutionalist” as she claims, how is her support for the federal licensing of all firearms in line with the 2ndamendment?
On Abortion she claims to be Pro-Life, but told Vote Smart that an abortion should be legal when the mother’s life is involved. How this fits with her “Pro-Life, Christian” values? You are either for the death of a baby or you are not.
Kelly ran a fundraiser for Bayshore a few years ago. She hired James O’Keefe and did not pay him for his appearance. Not a credible source. What did Kelly do with the money she was supposed to pay James O’Keefe with?
What a classic Democrat like move, attacking the messenger instead of the points the messenger brought up. Sad, very sad.
Let me defend both of those positions not because I am taking a position in the primary election for State Senate but because my good friend Ms. Hart deserves an answer to her questions. I don’t believe anyone who knows me has ever questioned my credentials as a conservative. I am a very strong supporter of the right to life and the right to bear arms, yet I find myself in disagreement with Ms. Kelly on both of those issues.
A Federal License for firearms could be constitutional depending on what is required. No constitutional right is unlimited in scope. No one wants criminals to own guns and no one would argue that felons have a constitutional right to bear arms. We can take away there right to vote clearly we can take away their right to own a firearm. If a Federal license merely required a background check to make sure you were not a criminal that would not be unconstitutional.
On the issue of permitting an abortion to save the life of the mother neither theology or the law have ever required a person to give up their life to save the life of another person. In a world where an unborn child is given the status of a person if a mother was in the difficult position where she would have to make a choice between her own life and the life of her unborn child it would not be morally or legally wrong for her to choose her own life.
We have to get past this idea that if you do not agree with me 100% on every issue you are not a true conservative. Yes there are republicans who are not conservative and we have elected far to many of them however there needs to be some room for disagreement between between conservatives. Particularly when we are in agreement with the big picture but may vary on the details.
Keep in mind that no one except for Jesus Christ has ever been 100% correct about everything. We need to be able to admit that sometimes the other guy might be right.
Wow, I can’t believe the words and timing of everything against Ms. Bellew. What is the regular Monmouth GOP, as in Club Monmouth, afraid of?
Surely, if they have such a great organization with such great support, this primary should be a no-brainer, right???
Sounds to me an incumbent campaign of lies, fears and smears.
Good luck R4CL!
The point here is, that if you are running against popular, accomplished incumbents you better bring something to the table. Of course the Monmouth County Org is going to protect its own, they’ve done a great job. All a primary like this does is weaken the party from the inside and make a safe R district more susceptible to a challenge in November. Her questionable political stances aside, the issues of her background, her professional claims, and her financial issues are concerning and should be vetted.
Hello readers Leigh Ann Bellew has a record of tall tails. But first I must make a disclaimer I was a republican and a male but now I am a proud democrat and a trans gender woman.
In her run for the seat held by Frank Pallone I worked a short time with her and Jim Granelli who was her campaign manager I worked as her press manager during the short time I worked with her she also told us she was “a lawyer who didn’t practice” as well as a director of a home school group, as well as Pro-Life. Jim and I stayed a very short time and for me the reason was her inconsistent story telling.

The Monmouth GOP is running scared second Rino puppet attack.
to make a copy of any degree one earned, and send it out to anyone who wants proof. If one wants to swim in the big pond of politics, especially in today’s transparent world, one had better have all their credentials true and verifiable, or, no matter what good ideas or plausible questions one might bring to a Primary table, you defeat yourself,by your own unfortunate half-truths and over- reaching!
take nothing for granted, and run hard and”scared,” every election, no matter how many times you run. Hey, this county ticket is still rather new: second term for Arnone and Golden, first full term for DiMaso. Just because we groupies know them, the larger amount of voters do not, so, they are wise to spend money, and get out in front, right from the start.
Look Fella. The wheels came off the BSTPG bus last night with Arts article of them pandering to the County Democrats.
Give up, it’s over. Stop embarrassing yourself. You are supporting FRAUDS and their lies, their hypocritical behavior, as well as the narcissism of Barbara Gonzalez.
You are better of asking Babs to resign now.

if the existing system allows for it. You don’t like double- dipping, get your fine legislators to change laws. There are still quite a few legislators, judges, and many retirees collecting multiple checks. Focusing on one individual is disengenuous and inaccurate, really…
You just don’t get it do you? Yes, the existing system allows it–I get it. However, in the Guadagno/Donovan case, Donovan was no longer eligible for his pension once he re-enrolled back into a pension covered job description (Chief Law Enforcement Officer)–To permit Donovan to receive BOTH a pension AND a salary–Guadagno and Golden placed Donovan into a Fictitous NON-EXISTENT position so he can collect both–DO YOU GET IT NOW??
That is Fraud!!! Sheesh!
She probably spent it at the nail salon. Kelly IS the fraud plain and simple. People who really know her are well aware.
She claims to be a diehard republican but in reality, she absolutely lives her life as a bleeding heart liberal, sitting on her butt waiting for hand outs. And her worrying about UNBORN babies is the biggest joke of all.
The title of this article is ironic when really everything about this poser is what should be questioned!
What is really sad is how you view everything as a “republican” or democratic” move, as opposed to looking at actual human beings. The messenger IS a morally devoid HUMAN BEING as are you if thats how you view the world.
Have a lovely day.
And it looks like the hypocrites have finally shut up. =)
