Write-in votes for Dem sore losers gave Eatontown GOP’s Mark Regan Jr his reelection win

Eatontown Councilman Mark Regan Jr owes his reelection victory to write-in votes for the losers of the Democrat primary.

Eatontown’s Republican Councilman Mark Regan Jr can thank disgruntled Democrats for his reelection victory.

Regan defeated Democrat Mariel Hufnagel by 6 votes in the recounted tally completed on Monday.

Democrats Dee Slattery and James David lost the July 7 Democrat primary to Hufnagel and general election top voter getter, Danielle Jones.

Slattery received 11 write-in votes in the general election, according to the Monmouth County Board of Elecions. David received 4 write-in votes.

    Ridiculous assumption. Those write in votes for Slattery and David were not going to go to Jones or Hufnagel, nor to Regan or Corcoran. These votes were intentional throwaway votes and did not alter the outcome.
