UPDATE 8:30 PM Little Silver ‘Hostage Situation’ Was False Alarm

UPDATE 5:12 PM

The subjects have been removed from the house at 465 Branch Ave, according to a source within law enforcement. The dwelling has yet to be searched. Continue to avoid the area.

Due to Police activity Branch Avenue is closed from Sycamore Avenue to Rumson Road. Please avoid the area of Branch Avenue and South Sunnycrest until further notice.

UPDATE: 4:44 p.m. The owner of 465 Branch Ave, Little Silver, Jonathan Petersen of Whiting, NJ, told MMM that a friend of his, Carlos Martinez, 41, is staying at the house as a caretaker. Peterson said that two other people, a man and a woman who are friends of Martinez, come and go from the house.

Peterson called the Little Silver Police Department to offer assistance after MMM informed him of what was happening at his property.

There is a ongoing hostage situation happening at 465 Branch Ave in Little Silver, according to multiple law enforcement sources and Little Silver officials.

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office’s swat team has responded, as has multiple area police departments.

Branch Ave is closed between Markum Place and Sycamore Ave. Authorities ask the public to avoid the area.
