State Senator Vin Gopal told MMM that he will not endorse a candidate for the Democrat nomination to take on Congressman Chris Smith in CD-4.

Gopal lives in the 6th Congressional District, but represents much of the 4th Congressional District in the State Legislature. Red Bank, Neptune, Neptune City, Ocean Township, Tinton Falls, Eatontown, Freehold Boro, Freehold Township, Shrewsbury Boro, Shrewsbury Township and Colts Neck are represented by Smith in the House of Representatives and Gopal in the State Senate.

The primary election between David Applefield of Red Bank, Christine Conforti of Neptune Township (Ocean Grove) and Stephanie Schmid of Little Silver has become increasingly contentious as the voters have received their mail in ballots that must be returned or post marked by election day, July 7 in order to be counted.

Schmid has the endorsement of the Monmouth County Democrats, the Ocean County Democrats and the hate group known as District 4 Coalition for Change.

Conforti has the endorsement of the Mercer County Democrats and Our Revolution-Monmouth.

The Asbury Park Press is hosting a facebook live debate between the candidates on Wednesday, June 24 at noon. So far only Applefield and Conforti have agreed to participate.

but it’s obvious that if he thought he could win that one, he’d have already picked one, be hawking them, and funding them. All candidates in the next few years need to fear what offices Vin sets his sights on…he can kill with a smile, and, money where he needs it.
