Murphy: Schools remain closed for academic year
New Jersey’s public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year, Governor Phil Murphy announced at his daily COVID-19 briefing on Monday. Teachers will continue to instruct students remotely.
Private schools will remain close through at least June 30.
The closure is only for the current school year. Decisions have yet to be made regarding summer school classes.
Spring sports are cancelled for the remainder of the school year.
Murphy said that plans are still being made for graduation ceremonies for high school seniors. Education Commissioner Lamont Repollet said that virtual graduation ceremonies in August are being considered.
