Stephanie Schmid says her ex-boyfriends are funding her congressional campaign

Stephanie Schmid, the apparent establishment Democrat choice to run against Congressman Chris Smith, told a candidates forum sponsored by the Greater Red Bank Women’s Initiative that she her nationwide cortege of ex-boyfriends are funding her congressional campaign. She implied that one of her opponents for the Democrat nomination in CD-4 is tapping her own exes for campaign cash as well.

Schmid was responding to her opponent, Christine Marie Conforti, informing the audience that 85% of Schmid’s donations over $1000 came from donors who do not live in New Jersey.

Conforti, who lives in Ocean Grove, grew up in Holmdel and has family in Hamilton, says she has deeper roots in CD-4 than Schmid or their other opponent, David Applefield, both of whom recently moved into New Jersey.

Schmid says she’s going to raise $4,000,000 in her effort to get 75% of registered Democrats and 70% of Independent voters in the district to come out to vote for her over Smith.

Conforti says her grassroots campaign will raise $40 from 40,000 donors because it is an easy ask.  Her last name is Conforti and 20 + 20 = 40.

maybe to point out possible weaknesses in opponents to a real, hard-working Congressman? -Maybe she could float a loan from Bloomie, with interest, if other help dries up-since he’s got plenty to spend on himself, and others.. time will tell..
