Neff Crushes Brandt in Little Silver Primary

Little Silver Mayor Bob Neff

Little Silver Mayor Bob Neff overwhelmingly defeated self-promoter Rick Brandt in the Republican Primary on Tuesday night, 1092-376, likely securing a third term leading the borough’s local government.  Council members Don Galante and Corinne Thygeson were unopposed in the primary.

Democrats did not nominate a candidate. There were Democrat 63 write-in votes for mayor and 26 for council, including votes for Neff, Brandt and Mickey Mouse. Borough Clerk Kimberly Jungfer told MMM that no candidate received the 21 write-in votes required to win the nomination for mayor or council.

The County Clerk’s Office confirmed that no candidates have filed to run as Independents for either mayor or council.

Meanwhile, in the whole rest of the state, a total of *13* other people voted on Primary Election Day?

Sad, really, that first there are no real options or choices of who to vote for in most primary races and second that so few people think our incumbents are doing a good enough job, or our party leaders have nominated good enough people, that even a minority of people are willing to take even a minute of their day to go show their support for their potential government representative. Fun Fact: 60,000,000 million round of CandyCrush were completed yesterday though! 🙁
