Deal Lifeguards Rescue 4 From Capsized Hobie Cat

Deal Lifeguards Bailey Crochet and Jake Shirley rescued four boaters on Sunday afternoon, after a catamaran capsized off the Deal Casino beach, according to an announcement by the Interlaken Police Department.

Deal Officers were dispatched to the Casino beach at 2:45 p.m. where they witnessed Crochet and Shirley rowing out to the Hobie Cat in a lifeguard boat in the face of 25-30 mph southwest winds.

The capsized boat and three occupants were being guided back to shore by the lifeguards when a second Hobie Cat arrived and one of the occupants of that catamaran entered the water to assist, but ended up in distress. Crochet and Shirley saved the fourth victim too, bringing all safely back to shore.
