Congressman Smith is unopposed in the GOP Primary

Congressman Chris Smith

Congressman Chris Smith is the only Republican from the 4th Congressional District who submitted nominating petitions to the New Jersey Division of Elections before the deadline yesterday and will be unopposed for the GOP nomination in the June 5th primary.

Felicia Stoler, a liberal registered Republican from Holmdel, announced in January that she would seek to deny Congressman Smith the nomination for reelection. On Saturday, Stoler told a handful of supporters gathered in the small backroom of the New Monmouth Diner in Middletown that she was skipping the primary and would run as a third-party “inclusion candidate.”

Democrats Josh Welle, address unknown, and former Asbury Park Councilman Jim Keady of Spring Lake, submitted nominating petitions in Trenton and will compete in the primary for the Democrat nomination.

Welle has the support of the Democrat establishment.  Keady and Stoler are supported by the angry wackadoodles from District 4 Coalition for Change and Indivisible 4th.
