Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge will be closed overnight Thursday through Friday morning

Murphy’s Tavern and Val’s Tavern in Rumson are likely to have a better night on Thursday than Tommy’s Tavern and Tap Room and Woody’s Grille in Sea Bright due to the fact that the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge (S-32) will close for maintenance at 8 p.m.  The bridge will reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday morning.

Uber drivers are advised that the best route to Sea Bright from Rumson is via the Oceanic Bridge into Middletown, right onto Locust Point Road and  right on Locust Ave over the bridge to Navesink Ave (by  the brick church).  Make a right on Navesink and another right on Route 36 in Highlands.  Take Route 36 over the Capt Joe Azzolina Bridge and you’re in Sea Bright.   McCloone’s and Tommy’s will be down the road on your right.

The southernly route to Rumson from Sea Bright, which might be faster from Woodly’s, is south on Ocean Avenue through Monmouth Beach to Atlantic Avenue to Monmouth Boulevard (Oceanport) to Seven Bridges Road (Little Silver) to reach Rumson Road in Rumson.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic while the Monmouth County Division of Bridges staff to perform regular maintenance to the span’s movable section.

“This critical work is necessary to keep the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge’s movable span in working condition,” said Freeholder Tom Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “Monmouth County works diligently to keep its bridges in safe, working order. The goal of the overnight construction is to minimize the disruption of travel.”
