2017 Predictions
In a repeat of Super Bowl I, the Green Bay Packers will defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LI. America will be great again.
Jared Kushner will buy Twitter.
The U.S. Supreme Court will reject Senator Robert Menendez’s arguments that constitutional separation of powers prohibits the Justice Department from prosecuting a New Jersey Senator for using the influence of his office in exchange for gifts and favors from a Florida businessman. Menendez will step down from the Senate as part of a deal that excludes prison and a felony record.
Governor Chris Christie will appoint NJ Senate President Steve Sweeney to complete Menendez’s term in the U.S. Senate.
Republican Joe Piscopo will defeat Democrat Phil Murphy to become the Governor of New Jersey.
President Trump will appoint Keyport Municipal Court Judge Frank J. LaRocca to be U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
In the 11th Legislative District, Senator Jennifer Beck will defeat Ocean Township Mayor Christopher Siciliano to be reelected. Republicans Tom Arnone and Mary Pat Angelini will defeat rookie Assembly Members Joann Downey and Eric Houghtaling.
Former Senate President John Bennett will seek the GOP nomination for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District. He won’t get it.
Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon will defeat Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik in the race to replace Senator Joe Kyrillos as the 13th District Senator. Freeholder Serena D’Maso and Middletown Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger will defeat Marlboro Councilman Jeff Cantor and Vincent Solomeno of Hazlet for the LD 13 Assembly seats.
Freeholder Lillian Burry will announce her retirement.
Busts of Freeholder Burry and Senator Kyrillos will be carved into Mt. Mitchell.
Freeholder Gary Rich will be reelected and Hazlet Mayor Sue Kiley will elected Freeholder by defeating Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty and Sue Fulton of Asbury Park. MMM will be great again.
Monmouth County Democrat Chairman Vin Gopal will complain on facebook that Republicans believe they are entitled to be elected in Monmouth County.
The Asbury Park Press will have another “restructuring” after experiencing a 50% decline in their Legal Notices advertising revenue.
Marlboro Councilwoman Carol Mazzola will switch parties, again, and be reelected as a Republican. Welcome home, Carol.
Super Bowl 2 was Green Bay versus Oakland.
Thanks, Barry. I corrected it.
One more correction please, ARt. Remove the prediction that Declan (tax & burn) O’Scanlon from the list. People will constantly be reminded of his betrayal of every Jersey resident anytime they pull up to the gas pumps. He should be ashamed of himself. He is a Christy drone, nothing more.
Art. I would add, the county and state GOP will disregard warnings about unfettered personal ambitions, and will lose a couple more seats in both the legislature, and possibly a freeholder seat, if the stampede to succeed Lillian isn’t managed properly..I see you left out Amy: she will not go quietly..2017 will be precarious for the party, a tough year of hanging on by fingernails, and trying to hold incumbents, and to not lose any more towns!
Maybe Amy will get a bust on Mt. Mitchell too.
there should be some recognition /commendation for bring the least gregarious and engaged legislator.
LOL….pass whatever you are smoking…You had me going till you mentioned the busts on the mountain…..BTW Cantor has LOST EVERY election he ever ran in except his Council seat and Jon Hornik ran that campaign for him. The people of Marlboro are still waiting for him to do something that he doesn’t benefit from.
LaRocca can’t afford the pay cut as he is a high priced divorce lawyer.
Gopal will get slaughtered by Beck and Oscanlon will lose no matter what he runs for. People don’t forget. Bennet would be foolish to come out of retirement….what for?
