Watch MSNBC: Why you should know about Matt Doherty’s role in the Bridgegate investigation

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty was a “key independent eye witness” in the Mastro Report, the $10 million plus investigation by Governor Chris Christie’s lawyers which purportedly exonerated Christie and other members of his administration of wrongdoing in the Bridgegate matter and other Port Authority related scandals.

In January of 2014 Doherty told both the Asbury Park Press and MMM—he called us back from an event he was attending at Georgetown University— that he didn’t remember hearing then DCA Commissioner Richard Constable and Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer privately discussing Sandy recovery aide for Hoboken or the pending Rockefeller development.  In his interview with MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki, Doherty admits lying to the press, “to give them something,” a practice that we now know he practices regularly.

Then he was called to testify under oath for the Mastro report.  He reportedly testified that he heard a conversation between Constable and Zimmer and that there were no threats issued by Constable and no demand for a quid pro quo of Sandy recovery money in exchange for the approval of a development proposal by The Rockefeller Group, as Zimmer had alleged.

Then he went on MSNBC, at the urging of the Christie Administration, and said he heard the entire conversation, unless he didn’t, but he did, unless Constable and Zimmer were whispering, but they weren’t.  As MSNBC anchor Steve Kornacki said, Doherty’s story is “confusing and contradictory.”

Now Matt Doherty wants to be a Monmouth County Freeholder.

If, after all the terrible news about Doherty’s unlawful conduct as mayor of Belmar, his family profiting from Hurricane Sandy, the multiple incidents of violating Belmar residents and visitors civil rights and his fiscal gimmickry, anyone is still considering voting for Doherty next week—they should watch these videos before doing so.  It’s MSNBC, not some Republican propaganda.
