The acronym “TIP” means “To Insure Promptness”; years prior, given at the start rather than the end. While LOL is plain rude, my guess is it was promulgated by a slow kitchen rather than the action of the waiter/waitress. Tips are nice to receive, but never should become an expectation. Just do the job and do it well. It is the owner’s responsibility to balance minimum wage and tips received, not the customer.
