Ira Goldberg is seeking the GOP nomination to challenge Mayor Jon Hornik in Marlboro

Ira Goldberg, a 36 year resident of Marlboro Township was in Atlantic City on Monday seeking support for Monmouth County Republicans present for his bid to unseat Marlboro Township’s Democratic mayor, Jonathan Hornik.

Goldberg’s son Brian, a candidate for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate in the primary last year proudly introduced his father to Monmouth contingent at Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnik’s rally/convention.

Asked if he thought he could be the popular Hornik, the elder Goldberg said, “I’ve been in Marlboro 36 years and know everyone.”

Look out Mr. Goldberg, your going to have Mr. Dean lead your campaign–into the gutter that is. Secondly, you attended Jon Bramnik’s party for Assembly Candidates. This is the first Assemblyman that said he would change his vote regarding the Chris Christie veto of the Port Authority Transparency Law.

Remember that law?–the one that was enacted due to Christie’s misdeeds at the Port Authority? Bramnik’s statement indicates he supports wrongdoing, corruption, and ever-increasing tolls at the bridges and tunnels. Many of whom are residents of Marlboro who commute into NYC.

Will you disavow Mr. Bramnik, Mr. Goldberg??

What do you want to do? Replace one loser with another??? Besides, doesn’t she now have a state job??? Who gave it to her and why???

    Many questions; no answers!

When the hell are Republicans going to publicly repudiate this financial disaster of a governor?

He is going to take them all down this election year.

I know Mr. Goldberg very well! He would make a great mayor! I strongly support him.

  7. God bless him said at 10:57 pm on February 3rd, 2015:

for trying! He needs active, committed running mates in an admittedly tough conflict. Step up, work hard, Marlboro GOP!

  8. @God Bless Him said at 8:26 am on February 4th, 2015:

The Marlboro GOP is a shell of its former self. With Republican scandal; the arrest of the previous mayor for corruption; an arrogant GOP chairman–it’s hopeless!

  9. I'm sure said at 9:57 am on February 4th, 2015:

Just like his son I’m sure he’ll raise hundreds of dollars…

  10. Who is Goldberg???? said at 11:01 am on February 4th, 2015:

Never heard of him despite his many years despite his self-proclaimed of 36 years living in the town. Has he done anything for the community? volunteerism, etc.?

  11. who is hornik???? said at 8:50 am on February 5th, 2015:

what did jon hornik do for marlboro for the 30 years he lived there before he saw an opportunity to cash in? his dad was mayor, you would think he would have been civic minded. he made up some b.s. about being a soccer coach. that was it , until he saw a way to build his law business up , by feeding the decotis group. its funny how hornick is so community minded now , what about all those summers coming home from college? where was he? so please apply the same standard for both candidates. also @ i’m sure mr goldberg could get hundreds of thousands of dollars wheeled in from the north if he was willing to sell the taxpayers of marlboro down the river, but that is exactly why we need a goldberg as mayor, he doesn’t have a law firm to feed .

  12. @who is hornik said at 10:25 am on February 5th, 2015:

Hornik ran at the right time. There was a very arrogant mayor by the name of Robert Kleinberg. The local Republicans rebelled against him and started a “Republicans for Hornik” campaign.

Voters seeing this said,” if Republicans don’t want him, I may as well vote for the Democrat (Hornik).”

The R Party in Marlboro is in shambles. Correction: None existent. The current chair, Chris Dean, has made matters worse. He has pissed off and turned off new comers and old timers alike

  13. @@whoishornik said at 2:24 pm on February 13th, 2015:

    You give yourself away Dean.
You keep regurgitating the tired old and inaccurate mantra of feeding his law buddies and the Decotis firm. Ask yourself, who would you put in as the town lawyers. While you are at it, who were the lawyers for the last two republican administrations, the ones where one of the mayors went to federal prison for taking bribes and the other was tossed by his own party and was guilty of a number of unethical acts that helped out his friends.

There is no person by that name living in Marlboro. There is one in Monmouth Beach.

He has nothing to say about what goes on in Marlboro
