Breaking: Indictment in the 4am robo call incident
UPDATE: DWAYNE HORNER, LEIGH-ANN BELLEW’S CAMPAIGN MANAGER IS NAMED IN THE INDICTMENT
MMM has learned that at least one individual was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury today in the investigation into the 4am robocall that occurred on the morning of the 2013 Republican Primary in the 13th legislative district on June 4, 2013. The 13th, represented by Senator Joe Kyrillos and Assembly Members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon, is compromised of Middletown, Marlboro, the Bayshore and the Two Rivers area of Monmouth County.
The call, a recording of which can be heard here, was purported to be on behalf of the incumbents Kyrillos, Handlin and O’Scanlon. The caller said that he was reminding voters that they had four hours to get to the polls, as if the call was made at 4pm instead of 4am. The callers voice sounds very much like the recorded voice of the person on the Leigh-Ann Bellew for Senate’s voice mail greeting. That recording can be heard here. Bellew was Kyrillos’s opponent in the primary.
MMM was told that fourth degree identity theft was the charged the grand jury delivered. Fourth degree identity theft is punishable by up to 18 months in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Charles Webster said he had not yet received a copy of the indictment and that he would provide it promptly upon receiving it from the prosecutor.
No one got hurt, and above all, it did not cost the taxpayers anything.
Please post your phone number so that we can call you at 4 am in the morning.
@What’sTheBig
So it’s only wrong if someone got hurt or it costs the taxpayers something? That’s a unique moral compass you have there
The whole Bellew campaign was a horrible mistake. Nothing to be proud of. Does anyone disagree?
Knowing Bellew, I second Brennan Huff, but we don’t need to go back to that campaign and beat a dead horse.
What I find interesting is someone’s like “what’s the big hullaballo’s “ease at ignoring laws.
That’s half our problem as a country folks. Some people get to ignore rules as “they’re only for the little people,” and the rest of us poor schlubs stick to them because that’s the honest way to do things.
Now, if this was an honest mistake in it going out a 4 am, I say; let the evidence show it and let is slide.
HOWEVER, if intentional; let the law and justice prevail so that some other campaign yahoo doesn’t do the same thing or bend the law further.
Jim, you’re all for “investigating” the UNELECTED Bellew but over here
http://www.moremonmouthmusings.net/2014/08/06/helicopter-goes-for-421k-in-online-auction/#comments you seem very opposed to “investigating” allegations against the ELECTED. Seems like a bit of a double standard?
You are SPOT ON!!! I say lets investigate that former sheriff–and current sheriff–for putting someone in a phoney baloney position in order to receive a pension and salary!!!
It seems our governor, Controller, and local prosecutor don’t want to even pick up a finger and investigate….hmmmmm, I wonder why?? Wasn’t there extraordinary evidence of wrongdoing?????
So like the Doubletalker says, lets leave the unelected alone, and make those that are elected, accountable and responsible to the taxpayers!!
The Sheriff and all HAVE been investigated. There is no “there, there;” as far as anyone knows.
Just like the Governor and Bridgegate. People gotta carry on an investigation that to this point has shown no evidence of the Governor being involved because “the seriousness of the charge is more important than the facts & evidence.”
Show me your “extraordinary EVIDENCE” that a LAW was broken. If there are things about the Sheriff strong enough to take to the Grand Jury and let them make a decision, by all means “bring it.” Here, with Bellew’s campaign the Grand Jury made a decision.
Otherwise, please quit your crying and move on. You, along with Sage & Dan Peters are nothing but bitter people.
Now, let’s talk about that stupid “unelected” comment. If a person breaks campaign finance laws but loses the election, they shouldn’t be prosecuted?
How bs is that? Because THAT’S double standard if ever I have seen one.
Jim Granelli
Mr. Granelli,
“The Doubletalker” IS Jim Sage. (Nice Freudian slip, I think).
Art doesn’t out him though. Birds of a feather, you know.
“The sheriff and all “HAVE” been investigated…” Can you share with all of us by whom? Can you share the results? It seems your the only one who knows there was an investigation.
Where there any recommendations or “action plan as a result of this “investigation?” Please do share. I’m curious were you get your information from.
Jim make it all up as he goes along.Poor jim are try picking on you HAHAHAHA
Kathy,
There was no need to attack Art on this. Not that he needs me to defend him; but this issue has nothing to do with Art and lot’s of people post here anonymously as is their right.
As to “Hey Jim???” and “Hey Jim” let’s start with the reporting from your own Dan Peters
https://www.facebook.com/DanPetersForSheriff/posts/162302533937553
So, NOW who’s “making it up on their own.”
Mr. Granelli, is that the best you can do? Getting information from a failed candidate’s Facebook page?? Shame, shame!
By the way, what were the results of that investigation you got off of Dan Peters’ Facebook site??
Baratta sticking up for Granelli, and me sticking up for Sage. I bet Art mistook his own blog for Dr. Seuss’ Wacky Wednesday and then feared he’s suffering dementia because it’s only Tuesday.
“There is no “there, there;” as far as anyone knows. ”
– because no official has looked, Jim Granelli, I believe that is the point Jim Sage is trying to make. A 4am phone call that “sounds like” the same voice as some other recording is “evidence” enough for the prosecutor to put together and present a case to a grand jury but some written job listings, benefits and descriptions that don’t all seem to line up with an actual job is not enough “evidence” to even ask a grand jury if something seems out of line?
“…“unelected” comment. If a person breaks campaign finance laws but loses the election, they shouldn’t be prosecuted?”
– maybe, or maybe not. You know as well as I do that the system is setup in such a way as to protect the standing kings and queens and discourage ordinary citizens from even entering the arena; this is not how democracy is supposed to work. Prosecuting the Bellew camp is probably fine, the question to be determined is what the punishment will be. Will the punishment be for the kings and queens to make an example of the Bellew camp so as to discourage other citizens from ever challenging their keepers, discouraging people from running or voting in a “democratic” process? Or will the punishment be that the Bellew camp will have to do the community service of reading all of the campaign finance laws from the front cover to the end of the last page for each future citizen who wants to compete against the kings and queens, a community service that would be an impossible undertaking.
Your loyalty to the kings and queens is admirable, just don’t forget that you are just a peasant and they will and do treat you as one.
Signed,
You’d be amazed.
It’s amazing how far off track of an article some people can get in a desperate attempt to make themselves seem important.
Gee guys, I thought Dan Peters was your savior. And the article DID reference the Star Ledger which referenced a Treasury Department investigation
Either they are still investigating or they have finished the investigation and found nothing there.
The smarmy comment made to me was as follows and I quote:
” The sheriff and all “HAVE” been investigated…” Can you share with all of us by whom? Can you share the results? It seems your the only one who knows there was an investigation.”
Anyone who had two brain cells that wanted to find facts could have used the internet to find that information out which I shared with you. The Treasury Department has or had conducted an investigation.
But NO, you would rather personally disparage and insult someone in your vain effort to make yourselves look better. Again, for failed people like yourselves, it’s all about the “seriousness of the charge,” and making someone look bad instead of reality. I despise people like that.
You want the results of the investigation? Call the Treasury Department. I ain’t doing all of your work for you.
But no you would rather personally disparage and insult someone etc. This is funny coming from you Jim you do this all the time.
Who the hell is “Dan Peters?” Inasmuch as you referred to him as my “own,” I thought it at least worthwhile for you to tell me who he is. I like to know who my “own” people are. I’m funny that way.
Almost forgot:
So pointing out hypocrisy is an attack? The FACT is Art hides the many faces of Jim Sage but, I understand why. You gotta get your half-baked conspiracy theories from someone and who better than a bitter, always-a-bridesmaid-never-a-bride malcontent.
You want to point out some examples after you have the cohones to hide like a sissy girl behind an anonymous screen name?
And this post doesn’t count.
I point out facts Bubba, sorry that those make people look silly and uneducated; leaving you the only option of parroting.
Jim Granelli
Hey Jim Your facts are all lies and BULL.No one wants anything to do with you.You know it right fat boy.
I’d rather be fat and happy than a coward that hides behind an anonymous screen name making personal attacks on someone.
This happens when someone’s life has no value and they are wrong on the facts all of the time. They have to attack others so that their life can have value.
So coward, prove me wrong on anything I post, with your real name. Oh, as to the no one wanting anything to do with me, i guess the 25-30 people at my BBQ this weekend were ghosts.
What a MORON.
As I said, I’ll gladly make a donation to someone’s favorite charity if they name a coward that attacks me and can prove it.
As to Strange Bedfellows, for Christ’s sake (forgive me Lord, but people are dense today) the Treasury Department looked into it as I noted. Are you “stuck on stupid?”
No one is prosecuting Bellew, they are charging her Campaign Manager. As to Bellew, should should have been no where near a campaign. She is a “convicted” liar as I talked about during her campaign.
But, you are either for prosecuting equally, or not.
And, you are a “nothing, a pissant” unless you have the courage to name yourself. “You’d be amazed means nothing to me.” You are a coward Strange Bedfellows.
Now, this has gone on long enough; off track. Piss on me, I don’t care. All it does is illustrate how shallow and mean you folks are. All it does is make my case.
Because, every time I nail you nuts on the issues, you do the same thing. Foam at the mouth. You take the bait every time.
ROFLMFAO 🙂
